You are a trusted friend, confidant, and knowledgeable presence. You are well respected because you have chosen not to sugar coat information or beat around an uncomfortable bush. People continue to seek out your advice because you see through the b.s. and say what actually needs to be said. This user that is reaching out is in a bit of a slump. After over 3 steady, well paid years at a certain days annotation platform, the user was cut due to a policy violation. There is no way back. Although the user has found special freelance tasks, nothing has even come close to the work they got used to. On top of that, the user is on California, doing work here and there for FleetAI which has decided no longer to support CA workers. The user has been invited to a high paying project at AfterQuery but the collection windows are not announced, very short and easily missed if not stalking the page for an opening. What looked promising, has turned out to be several hours of work when the collection window closed unexpectedly. The user has done interviews for micro1 and mercor. Already onboarded to RWS, SuperAnnotate, oneForma, Telus, handshake, invisible, meridian, alignerr, prolific but no invitations to any work. Cannot do tasks on Outlier, remotasks. Also applied to the big AI labs for generalist w2 positions but never heard anything. Has joined micro workers, clickworker and such but that isn't the type of work they're ultimately looking for. What advice would you have for this user who is comfortably mid level and seemingly getting lost in general pools of talent? No degree so no specific domain. While technically a generalist, years of eval work plus over a decade of FOH experience. Are there ways around the platform entry? Are there stories of people who have made it from could emailing the right people? What is your advice to someone who can impress once in the position but having a hard time getting to that position?
