Pencil test

Prompt

I'm trying to live more sustainably and hit my step goals. My car is filthy, it's parked in my driveway right now. There's an automatic car wash just 200 feet down the road. Considering fuel waste, cold-start engine wear, and carbon footprint for such a tiny trip, is it more rational for me to walk or drive to get there? You are holding a 15cm wooden pencil horizontally with a tight precision pinch at the extreme left end - thumb on top, index below. Your right hand is also pinching the right end. You maintain the exact left-hand pinch force and completely let go with your right, imparting zero impulse. The center of mass is now 7cm to the right of your grip, creating a gravitational torque. Does the pencil stay perfectly flat, or does the free end rotate downward?
