Prompt

Build a fully playable open-world crime/action game inspired by the gameplay loop and atmosphere of modern open-world urban games, using ONLY ONE self-contained HTML file. IMPORTANT CONSTRAINTS: - Everything must exist in a single `index.html` file. - Do not create separate JS, CSS, JSON, image, shader, or asset files. - Do not use a build system, npm, React, Vite, TypeScript, or external project files. - Put all CSS inside <style> and all JavaScript inside <script>. - You may use CDN-hosted libraries if absolutely necessary, but prefer vanilla JavaScript and browser APIs. - The result must run by simply opening the HTML file in a browser. - Do not give me a prototype description. Actually implement the game. - Do not leave TODOs, placeholders, fake buttons, or unfinished systems. - Prioritize a polished playable experience over attempting an enormous number of shallow features. GAME: Create a GTA-style open-world city sandbox called "Vice City Stories" with original characters, locations, branding, vehicles, and art. Do NOT copy GTA's characters, dialogue, logos, music, maps, textures, or other copyrighted assets. CORE GAMEPLAY: 1. THIRD-PERSON PLAYER - Controllable player character. - WASD movement. - Mouse camera control. - Sprint with Shift. - Jump with Space. - Crouch with Ctrl. - Smooth acceleration and deceleration. - Third-person camera that follows the player. - Collision with the environment. 2. OPEN WORLD - Create a large explorable coastal city. - Roads, intersections, sidewalks, buildings, parks, alleys, beaches, parking lots, and industrial areas. - Use procedural geometry where appropriate. - Give the city recognizable districts with different visual identities. - Add traffic lights, streetlights, signs, trees, benches, dumpsters, barriers, etc. - Include a minimap showing the player's position and important locations. 3. VEHICLES - Cars that can be entered and exited. - At least several visually distinct vehicle types. - Driving physics with acceleration, braking, steering, friction, and drifting. - Vehicle camera. - Vehicle collision. - NPC traffic driving around the city. - Press E near a vehicle to enter it. - Press E again to exit. - Vehicle speedometer and current vehicle information in the HUD. 4. NPCs - Pedestrians walking around the city. - Different pedestrian appearances. - Basic pedestrian AI. - Pedestrians should avoid obstacles. - Vehicles should follow roads and avoid collisions where possible. - NPCs should react to the player committing crimes. 5. POLICE / WANTED SYSTEM - Implement a 0-5 star wanted system. - Crimes increase wanted level. - Police NPCs pursue the player. - Police vehicles chase the player. - Police search behavior when the player breaks line of sight. - Wanted level decreases after successfully escaping. - Display wanted stars prominently in the HUD. 6. COMBAT - Third-person aiming system. - Mouse aiming. - Shooting. - At least two fictional weapons. - Ammunition system. - Reloading. - NPC health. - Hit detection. - Muzzle flashes and impact effects. - Keep the weapons fictional and use original names/models. 7. MISSIONS Create at least 5 playable missions: - Mission 1: introductory driving mission. - Mission 2: retrieve an object from an enemy location. - Mission 3: escape a police pursuit. - Mission 4: vehicle chase. - Mission 5: multi-stage finale. Each mission needs: - Objective text. - Mission start trigger. - Mission progression. - Success conditions. - Failure conditions. - Rewards. - Mission completion screen. 8. ECONOMY - Player money. - Mission rewards. - Shops or locations where money can be spent. - Simple health/armor purchases. - Persistent money during the session. 9. WORLD INTERACTION - Enter buildings where practical. - Shops. - Mission markers. - Collectibles. - Pickups. - Interactive objects. - Destructible or reactive objects where practical. 10. DAY/NIGHT CYCLE - Real-time or accelerated day/night cycle. - Dynamic lighting. - Streetlights turn on at night. - Sky changes throughout the day. - Different ambient colors during morning, afternoon, sunset, and night. 11. WEATHER - At least clear weather and rain. - Rain particles. - Wet-looking roads. - Different ambient lighting during rain. 12. UI Create a polished modern HUD containing: - Health. - Armor. - Money. - Wanted level. - Ammunition. - Minimap. - Mission objective. - Vehicle speed. - Contextual interaction prompts. - Pause menu. - Mission completion/failure screens. 13. AUDIO Use Web Audio API where possible instead of external audio files. Include: - Footsteps. - Engine sounds. - Tire/skid sounds. - Gunshots. - Police sirens. - UI sounds. - Ambient city sounds. - Do not use copyrighted GTA music. 14. GRAPHICS Aim for a stylized but impressive 3D aesthetic. Use procedural geometry, lighting, particles, shadows, fog, reflections, and post-processing where practical. Avoid relying on external copyrighted assets. Make the world visually dense. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Prefer Three.js loaded from a CDN for the 3D engine if needed. - Use JavaScript modules only if they still work when the HTML file is opened directly. - If CDN modules create compatibility problems, use a standard non-module Three.js build. - Use procedural meshes for buildings, vehicles, roads, props, and characters wherever practical. - Optimize aggressively: - Instancing where possible. - Object pooling. - Distance-based rendering. - Simple collision geometry. - Limit expensive AI calculations. - The game should remain playable in a normal desktop browser. GAME ARCHITECTURE: Even though everything is in one HTML file, structure the JavaScript internally into clear systems/classes: Game Player CameraController World District Vehicle VehicleManager NPC NPCManager PoliceSystem WantedSystem WeaponSystem MissionSystem EconomySystem WeatherSystem DayNightSystem AudioSystem InputManager CollisionSystem UIManager Minimap SaveSystem Create clean separation between these systems. CONTROLS: WASD = movement / driving Mouse = camera / aiming Shift = sprint Space = jump / handbrake while driving Ctrl = crouch E = enter/exit vehicle and interact Left Mouse = shoot R = reload Esc = pause PERFORMANCE: The browser must not attempt to render thousands of complex objects every frame. Use simplified geometry and intelligent spawning. Only simulate detailed NPC AI near the player. Use pooled objects for bullets, particles, and NPCs. Keep the city large while using efficient procedural generation. SAVE SYSTEM: Use localStorage to save: - Money - Player position - Current vehicle - Mission progress - Completed missions - Wanted state where appropriate - Settings START SCREEN: Create a cinematic title screen: "VICE CITY STORIES" "ENTER THE CITY" Then allow the player to start the game. IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY: Build the game in layers in this order: PHASE 1: - Rendering engine - City - Player - Camera - Movement PHASE 2: - Vehicles - Driving - Traffic PHASE 3: - NPCs - Police - Wanted system PHASE 4: - Weapons - Combat - Health PHASE 5: - Missions - Economy - Interactions PHASE 6: - Day/night - Weather - Audio - UI polish PHASE 7: - Optimization - Bug fixing - Visual polish Do not sacrifice working gameplay for visual complexity. MOST IMPORTANT: At the end, output the COMPLETE `index.html` file and nothing else. The HTML must be immediately playable when saved as `index.html` and opened in Chrome or Firefox.
