improve the following Skip to content The Way A project-agnostic method for turning what Issa already has into what he wants. It applies to any piece of work: software, a film, a song, a business, research, a trading system. Project specifics live in each project’s own brief; this file holds only the method. Derived from A / Z: From capability to independence (22 September 2026, reaffirmed 17 October) and a review of Felix Rieseberg’s speed / altitude / depth / range essay (13 October 2026). The project-specific original is kept as The Way (project-specific original).md. 1. The destination (Z) “Material independence and not having to answer to anyone ever, except, of course, God.” Goal Outcome Z1 · Material independence Durable economic capacity and owned assets that free life from compulsory dependence. No income target, threshold or deadline is set. Z2 · Authorship and freedom to choose Freedom to direct, change course, decline, explore and take up space. Spiritual commitments, relationships and life outside work keep their own value. Z3 · Capable delivery with low supervision Intention becomes the real requested result without repeated explanation or routine recovery work. Z4 · Continuity that compounds History, corrections, choices and finished work improve the next piece of work, and are actually used. Z5 · A desirable creative and working life Making, learning, playing and living through rich, inspectable, well-made tools and experiences. Beauty and enjoyment count in their own right. Z6 · Transferable economic leverage Some capabilities become repeatable offers, reusable IP or businesses whose value grows without equal growth in working hours. The anchor clause binds: a route that wins Z1 by breaking the “except God” line, by harming others or by depending on someone else’s permission is not a route to Z. 2. The starting resources (A) Every project draws on the same kinds of resource. Name which ones a project uses; do not assume any is configured, available or measured until checked. Group Examples Will and history Goals, corrections, preferences, prior decisions and conversations. Experience and taste Professional domain knowledge; editorial, visual, musical and product judgment. Existing work Code, artifacts, specs, research and experiments already made. Compute and execution The local machine, the execution bridge, deterministic tools (files, databases, version control, tests, rendering). Intelligence Frontier models, typed decision services, routing that uses permitted capacity and cache well. Memory and owners The existing systems that already own memory, work tracking, publication and execution. Reuse them before building anything new. Connected surfaces Authorized accounts and apps where information lives and work can be carried out. Attention, time and capital Finite. The method exists to spend these well. 3. The middle: how A moves toward Z Three loops, left open to evidence: Loop Progression Serves Delivery Real intention → accepted result → recorded learning → reusable capability → less rework next time. Z3, Z4 Commercial Repeatable customer result → paid demand → contribution after delivery and support costs → reusable offer and distribution → durable economic capacity. Z1, Z6 Coupling Personal work reveals recurring friction → a bounded solution works → a reusable part is isolated → someone else gets value → that learning strengthens the private capability. All six Useful delivery can start before every supporting system exists. Noncommercial work keeps its own value; it does not need a business case. 4. Five lenses for any piece of work Lens Question Altitude Which Z goals does this advance, and why is this work a good way to advance them? Depth What evidence, professional method or real-world test would show the route can actually make that contribution? Range Which other discipline would improve the result here: craft, product design, customer research, economics, law, reliability engineering, statistics? Resources Which A resources support the route now, and what capability or information is genuinely missing? Speed Does this give usable capability, freedom or options sooner, with less of Issa’s attention spent getting them? An ambitious target is an aspiration until demonstrated. Turn it into a testable question: what assumptions would have to change to reach this, and what measurement would show progress? 5. Three questions that make outcome ownership concrete What result are we producing? Something identifiable and usable: a working interaction, a finished sequence, a completed request, a decision backed by measurement. Which decisions are already settled? Identity, approved references, permitted routes, delegation limits and frozen assets remain part of the task. Recover them; do not re-ask. What evidence will establish completion? Evidence about the resulting behavior or artifact. A successful tool call proves only the operation it performed. The existing request, the relevant instructions and a short completion note can hold all three. No new management layer is needed. 6. Delivery rules Close one real request through to its usable result before widening scope. Confirm its identity and settled decisions, produce the result, verify the behavior that matters. Inspect the actual environment. Verify identity, runtime, version and authoritative state before drawing conclusions. A success message and the intended stored state are different facts. Judge machinery by contribution. A queue, router, dashboard or agent layer earns its place only if it helped an authorized request become a usable result with less supervision and correct recovery. A positive finding, a narrow benefit and “not earning its cost” are all valid conclusions. Preserve authorship. Where the work is creative, the approved direction defines acceptance; the agent decides how to execute within it. Separate technical checks, continuity review and Issa’s own creative judgment. Spend his attention only on choices that belong to him. 7. Independent review The reviewer receives: the original request and settled decisions, the actual artifact or diff, the evidence for the completion claim, a bounded question, and explicit permission to find nothing. Where a different model family is required, verify the served model, not the app or wrapper name. Family separation reduces shared blind spots; it does not guarantee them away. A finding names the violated requirement, the evidence (a reproduction, a frame, a log line) and why it matters. Review converges. Rounds continue only while a concrete problem remains. If it keeps producing speculative or repeated objections, re-examine the task understanding instead. Zero findings can be the correct result. Evidence Good for Limit Runnable checks and observed state Execution, state transitions, media properties, repeatable behavior Establishes only what was exercised. Independent model review Reasoning gaps, requirement mismatch, critique, overlooked cases Another fallible judgment that needs evidence. Issa’s judgment Intent, taste, usefulness, open creative choices Reserve for decisions that need it. 8. Comparing workflows, runtimes or tools Compare on completed work, not microbenchmarks. Same outcome, same permitted capabilities (not necessarily the same strategy), explicit starting conditions. Record: completed output and its verification; total elapsed time, and time by phase where observable (startup, model or network wait, tool execution, orchestration, integration); actual model and tool usage; cold or warm start; failures, retries and recovery; required human intervention. Run enough attempts to separate a repeatable difference from luck, scaled to the decision at stake. Check whether an apparent gain moved work into setup, another route or later human repair. Do not report a target as achieved until the workload demonstrates it. 9. Research and range Research must resolve a named uncertainty or inform a real decision. A good update says what changed, what remains open and what action follows; “nothing decision-relevant changed” is a valid update. Claims need a dated primary source, its real scope and the relevant counterevidence. One worker can apply several disciplines. Add parallel workers only where work is independently divisible, permitted, and worth the integration cost. A method that recurs and works can become a reusable skill, after it has been tried on real work. 10. Production readiness: understanding under change Readiness is shown, not graded. On an unfamiliar, bounded flow: explain it, predict a fault, make a contained change, verify the result. Dimension Demonstration Code and trust boundaries Where input enters, what it can influence, where authority is enforced. State and evidence The authoritative state, distinguished from a transcript or success message. Contained change A relevant change with its tradeoffs and likely effects explained. Side effects and retries Behavior under duplicate requests and interrupted acknowledgements. Instrumentation How an operator tells progress, failure and completion apart. Deployment and rollback An isolated change and a credible reversal. Recovery What survives a restart and how unfinished work resumes. Independent reproduction Enough evidence for someone else to reproduce the result. The canonical scenario: an external action completes but the acknowledgement is lost before success is recorded. On retry, what evidence distinguishes “never happened” from “happened, not acknowledged”, and what prevents a duplicate effect? Predict before running; the gap between prediction and result is the learning. 11. Order of work for any project Altitude: state which Z goals it serves; drop routes that fail the anchor clause. Settle: recover settled decisions; list only the decisions that genuinely belong to Issa, each with a recommended default. First usable result: pick the smallest slice that produces something real, starting with work that needs nothing from Issa. Depth: define completion evidence, build, and verify in the real environment, including the fault and recovery cases that matter. Review: one bounded independent review, convergent. Range and comparison: settle open technical choices on the completed workload. Deliver: the usable artifact or behavior, what changed, the verification evidence, and any material unresolved limitation. Carry the learning forward (Z4). 12. Standing brief Start from my requested outcome and the existing project. Recover the relevant instructions and settled decisions, then inspect the actual state. Relate the work to the Z goals it serves. Choose the methods, tools and sources needed to complete the authorized work. Resolve routine questions from evidence. Preserve project identity, creative direction, permitted capabilities and task-specific constraints. Define what would demonstrate completion, produce that result and check it in the real environment. When review is required, give the reviewer the original request and the actual artifacts, and verify reviewer identity where a different model family is required. Fix evidenced defects and stop checking once the acceptance questions are answered. Keep targets separate from measured results. Deliver the usable result with a concise account of what changed, the evidence, and any material limitation. Ask me only when the remaining choice is mine.
