I run a small private web app called Sunday Select: an NFL pick'em league for my family (8 players), which replaced a paper notebook we used for years. It launched September 9, 2026 and is in active use for the 2026 regular season (Weeks 1–18). I'm the commissioner and operator; I'm not a programmer, and an AI coding agent writes the code under my direction. I'd like your ideas for what to add next. Please give me two lists: 1. EASY WINS: low-risk improvements: small, mostly presentation, no change to scoring or pick rules, buildable in one short session. 2. CREATIVE IDEAS: things that would make the weekly ritual more fun or engaging for a family league, even if they're bigger. THE TWO CONTESTS - Classic: pick the winner of every game each week. Record is W-L. A missed pick counts as a loss. A tied game is removed from everyone's record. Standings rank by win percentage. Each week's best record earns the "weekly winner" crown (bragging rights only). - Eliminator: pick one team per week that you think will win; you can never use the same team twice all season. A win extends your streak; a loss, tie or missed week resets it to zero. Longest streak wins. CORE RULES THAT SHAPE EVERYTHING - Every pick locks at its own game's kickoff (no weekly deadline). Once locked, nobody, including the commissioner, can change it. - Picks are secret until they lock, then visible to the whole league forever. Nothing may reveal a pick before its game kicks off: not counts, not hints, not "X people picked this team." - Scoring is always recalculated from the game results and picks; nothing is hand-edited. - Commissioner powers are deliberately narrow and fully logged (void a game, enter a score or kickoff manually, emergency entry of a pick received in writing during an outage). WHAT EXISTS TODAY Player-facing (phone-first, most people use iPhones): - Week page: every game as a card with kickoff time, a countdown to lock, team W-L records and the point spread; tap a team to pick. A tap shows "Saving…" then "Saved". A line at the top shows how many open games still need your pick, with a jump to the first one. - Live scores during games; finals graded automatically. - After a game locks, everyone's picks for it are revealed. - Notices on the week page when a game you picked has its kickoff time moved, or when a system action cleared your Eliminator pick. - Reminder emails before kickoffs if you haven't picked. - Standings: season W-L and win %, ranked; a week selector shows every player's record for any single week, with the weekly winner crowned once the week is fully settled. Your own row is highlighted; names link to player pages. - Weekly-winner spotlight on the home page. - Eliminator board: each player's current streak, a strip of their weekly results, which teams they've used, and a legend explaining the symbols. - Player pages: a player's game-by-game results and recent form. - Banners page: past champions from the paper-notebook years. - A calm error page if something fails, with links back to the main pages. Commissioner-only: - An admin page for voids, manual scores and kickoffs, emergency pick entry, sync controls, and a panel of games with schedule problems. - A "Copy recap" button that produces a plain-text weekly summary (weekly winner, records, season leaders, Eliminator streaks ended) to paste into our family group chat. ALREADY PLANNED OR CONSIDERED (please don't propose these again; you may suggest a twist on one if it's genuinely different): - "Lone Wolf / Consensus" labels after a game locks (e.g. "7 picked Buffalo; only Sarah picked Miami"). - Week-page player names as links; a "My profile" shortcut. - Collapsible team inventories on the Eliminator board; nicer styling for the Banners page. - A weekly W-L summary on player pages. - A third contest against the point spread (deferred to next season). HARD LIMITS (ideas that break these won't work for us) - No money, betting or payments of any kind. - No league chat or messaging inside the app (we have a family group text). - No injury reports or news feeds. - Nothing that reveals any pick before its game kicks off. - No changes to the scoring rules this season; rules are frozen until next year. - Small and simple: one league, 8 people, free-tier hosting. Prefer ideas that need no new software libraries, no new paid services, and little or no database change. - It's a family league: playful is good, mean-spirited isn't (e.g. no public "worst player" shaming). FOR EACH IDEA, PLEASE GIVE - Name, plus one sentence on what a player would actually see or do. - Why it's worth it: who benefits and when (Sunday morning? Tuesday after the week ends?). - What it touches: display only, new data or calculations, or anything near pick secrecy, locks or scoring. - Risk: very low, low, moderate or high, with one line on why. - Size: small (an evening), medium (a few sessions) or large. - Any rule question it raises that the commissioner would need to decide. Aim for 6–10 Easy Wins and 5–8 Creative Ideas. Rank each list by your best guess at value for a family league. Then finish with your top 3 overall picks and one sentence each on why. Plain language, please; I'm not a programmer.
