Prompt

Act as a world-class human-powered vehicle (HPV) aerodynamicist and engineer. Design the "perfect" aerodynamic bicycle with ZERO restrictions — it will never be raced under UCI rules, so ignore every regulation: no weight minimum, no tube-shape limits, no geometry rules, fairings allowed. Benchmark it against both UCI superbikes and record-breaking streamliners. PART 1 — DESIGN THE BIKE (call it "Aero One Unrestricted"): - Goal: absolute lowest CdA for a human-powered machine - Configuration: justify upright vs. prone/supine recumbent vs. head-first — the rider is 70–80% of drag, so position is the #1 decision - Full fairing: shell shape, canopy, laminar flow management, ventilation/cooling tradeoff, entry/exit practicality - Wheels: disc wheels, wheel fairings, tire width, rolling resistance - Drivetrain: chain vs. belt, drivetrain efficiency, gearing - Stability: handling at 100+ km/h, crosswind sensitivity, braking, safety - Quantify: target CdA, watts required at 40 / 60 / 100 km/h, top speed for a 250 W rider and a 1500 W sprinter - Be honest about physics and practical tradeoffs (starts, stops, visibility) PART 2 — BENCHMARK in a table against: (a) UCI-legal flagships: Trek Madone SLR Gen 7, Cervélo S5, S-Works Tarmac SL8 (b) Unrestricted record machines: Aerovelo Eta, VeloX, Varna Diablo Columns: CdA (rider + machine, approx.), design philosophy, top speed or claimed watt savings, fairing or not. Explain where Aero One Unrestricted wins and where the record machines are still ahead. PART 3 — VERDICT: Explain the physics leap from UCI bikes (~0.18–0.20 CdA) to streamliners (~0.04–0.07 CdA) — why a fairing + low rider position beats every frame innovation combined. Note the real-world costs: weight, starts, crosswinds, usability. Label all estimates as estimates.
