The user wants a single HTML file with an interactive, fully dissectable 3D flower model with labels, that is hyperrealistic. They mention it will be rendered in an iframe in a browser. Let me think about what would make this truly impressive: 1. **Technology**: Three.js from CDN (allowed since CDN references are okay). I'll need OrbitControls for interaction. For hyperrealism, I need: - Physically based rendering (PBR materials) - Proper lighting (environment map or well-crafted lights) - Subsurface scattering approximation for petals (translucency) - Procedural geometry that looks organic - Post-processing maybe (bloom is cheap-glow territory... I'll skip glow effects, keep it restrained; maybe just good tone mapping) 2. **"Fully dissectable"**: This is the key feature. The model should be an anatomical flower — like a lily or tulip — with separable layers: - Petals (corolla) — 6 tepals for a lily - Stamens (filaments + anthers) — 6 - Pistil (style + stigma) - Ovary / receptacle - Stem (pedicel) - Maybe sepals "Dissectable" means the user can peel away layers, explode the parts, isolate parts, click parts to see labels. Like an anatomical explorer. I should implement: - An "explode" slider that separates layers radially/vertically - Clicking a part highlights it and shows its label with description - A parts list panel where you can toggle visibility of each part - Maybe a "dissection mode" where petals peel off one by one - Hover highlighting with an HTML label that follows the 3D position 3. **Labels**: 3D-anchored HTML labels (leader lines maybe) or a side panel. I'll do both: a leader-line label system where labels connect to parts with thin lines, toggled per-part. Clicking a part opens an info card. 4. **Hyperrealistic flower**: A lily is a good choice — lilies have prominent stamens with big anthers, a recognizable pistil, and curved tepals. Building a realistic lily procedurally: - **Tepals**: Use a parametric petal shape — a curved surface. I can create a custom geometry: a plane deformed by a shape function, with curvature (bowl shape + recurved tip like a lily). Give it a gradient texture via vertex colors or a canvas texture (pink/white gradient with darker center, speckles). Lily petals have speckles and a central vein. A canvas-generated texture would be great: base gradient, streaks, spots, nectar guides. - **Stamens**: Filament as a thin curved tube (TubeGeometry along a curve that arcs outward). Anther as a capsule/elongated box rotated — actually lily anthers are long, six-lobed. I can make an anther from a LatheGeometry or a stretched capsule with a rough texture (brownish-orange with pollen). Add pollen grain dots maybe via texture. - **Pistil**: Style as a thin cylinder slightly curved, stigma as a rounded trilobed knob (sphere scaled). Ovary at base — a green elongated ovary (superior ovary in lily sits above receptacle), with a subtle bumpy texture. Inside the ovary, when dissected open... hmm, "fully dissectable" — could I show a cross-section of the ovary with ovules? That would be a great signature moment: an "ovary cross-section" view showing ovules arranged in chambers. That might be complex but doable: when you isolate the ovary, show a cut-open half with tiny ovule spheres inside. Maybe as a separate "cross-section" toggle. - **Stem**: A curved tube with green texture, with small leaves maybe. Keep focus on the flower. - **Receptacle**: small green dome at base connecting everything. 5. **Petal geometry details**: To be hyperrealistic, petals need: - Asymmetric curvature (lily tepals curve back at tips) - Slight ruffling at edges — can add noise-based edge waviness - Thickness — use two-sided material with slight thickness illusion. Actually I could build a thin shell: create the surface and give it a MeshPhysicalMaterial with transmission or at least sheen + translucency via a custom shader. For performance and reliability, MeshPhysicalMaterial with `sheen`, `transmission` small, `thickness`, and `side: DoubleSide` works. Actually transmission requires transparent rendering and can be heavy but one flower is fine. Better: use a custom onBeforeCompile injection to add wrap lighting (subsurface approximation) — diffuse = pow(dot(N,L)*0.5+0.5, 2) style wrap. That gives the soft translucent look of petals. I can inject into MeshPhysicalMaterial's shader. This is a nice craft detail. Alternatively use `MeshPhysicalMaterial` with `transmission: 0.15, thickness: 0.5, roughness 0.5, sheen 1, sheenColor pink, side DoubleSide`. Combined with a strong environment light, this looks quite good. 6. **Environment**: For realism I need an environment map. I can generate one procedurally with `THREE.PMREMGenerator` and a `RoomEnvironment` — three.js ships RoomEnvironment in examples. With CDN modules I can import it from the examples/jsm. Using ES modules with importmap: ```html ``` Then import OrbitControls, RoomEnvironment. That's clean and reliable. Maybe skip post-processing to keep it robust. Use ACESFilmicToneMapping. 7. **UI design**: I need an elegant botanical-study aesthetic — like a scientific plate / herbarium. Serif font for headings (e.g., "Cormorant Garamond" or "Fraunces" from Google Fonts), a small caps sans for UI labels. Dark background? A botanical study could be on a deep near-black green or a warm paper tone. I think a dark charcoal-green background makes the 3D flower pop and feels like a museum exhibit. Paper-cream text. Thin hairline borders. Roman numerals for part indices like anatomical plates (I, II, III...). That's a distinctive, authored aesthetic — "BOTANICAL PLATE No. VII — Lilium" vibes. Layout: - Top-left: title block — "Lilium regale" (royal lily) with plate-style typography, small caps. - Left or right side: parts index — list of anatomical parts with Roman numerals, each with visibility toggle and hover-to-highlight. - Bottom: dissection controls — "Dissect" slider (0–100%), buttons: "Reset", "Exploded view", maybe "X-ray" mode. - Clicking a part → info card appears (bottom-left or near cursor) with name, Latin term, description. - Hover → part subtly emissive-highlights + tooltip label near the part. - Leader lines: when "labels" toggle on, thin SVG/canvas lines from parts to text labels around the flower. I could implement labels as HTML divs positioned via projection each frame, with a thin line drawn... doing lines with a full-screen SVG overlay updated per frame is feasible. Let me implement: each label anchored to a 3D point (part center), projected to screen; draw line from anchor screen pos to label box using an SVG `` updated per frame. Show label callouts only when dissected past some level or toggled. That leader-line annotation system is a strong signature — very "anatomical plate" and memorable. 8. **Dissection interaction details**: - "Dissect" slider drives a progression t: at t=0, flower intact. As t increases: tepals peel outward and rotate back (like opening), then detach and move outward/down; stamens splay then detach; pistil remains; finally ovary opens revealing ovules? - Simpler robust approach: an "explode" factor per part with staggered thresholds — each part group has a start/end range in the dissect parameter and a target offset. E.g., tepal i: peels at t in [i*0.06, i*0.06+0.3]. Each part gets a position offset (radial outward + downward or upward) and a rotation (tilt back). Interpolate smoothly (smoothstep). - Also a "section" cut: toggle "Cross-section" that swaps the ovary mesh for a half-ovary with visible ovules inside (little amber beads arranged in 3 locules). This is the wow moment. I can build: ovary outer as lathe; when sectioned, show a clipping... clipping planes! three.js supports `clippingPlanes` per material and `localClippingEnabled`. I could clip the ovary/pistil with a plane and cap it... capping is the hard part. Alternative: build a half-ovary geometry (lathe with phiLength = PI) plus a flat cross-section face showing the cut surface with 3 chambers and ovules. Constructing that cut face procedurally: a half-disc shape extruded? Hmm. Let me think about the ovary cross-section geometry concretely: - Lily ovary: elongated, ~1.2 units long, 0.35 diameter, 3 locules (chambers). - Build outer wall: LatheGeometry with half profile... Lathe rotates around Y with phiStart/phiLength — a half lathe gives an open half-cylinder-ish shape; then I need the flat cut face. The cut face is the cross-section: shape = half of the ovary outline (a semicircular disc per height) with 3 chamber walls. I could create the cross-section as a flat extruded shape on the plane x=0: a 2D Shape of the half-section (semicircle) with three wedge holes/walls... Simpler and still convincing: make the "section" an entirely separate group that replaces the whole pistil+ovary: a half ovary (semi-lathe) + a flat "cut plane" mesh (a semicircular ShapeGeometry) with a canvas texture painted to look like the ovary cross-section (green rim, three chambers, pale tissue, with ovule beads drawn as texture + actual 3D ovule spheres sitting in the chambers slightly). Ovules as 3D tiny spheres arranged in two rows per chamber, mounted on the cut face, tilted. That reads very well. Actually, even better: keep both pistil variants and toggle visibility. The cross-section variant: half-ovary lathe (phiStart=-PI/2, phiLength=PI), cut face = semicircle shape with canvas texture (chambers + funicles), and 3D ovules as small translucent spheres in rows on the cut face. The style continues from the top of the ovary normally. When section mode is on, the regular ovary hides and section shows. Nice. Even simpler alternative: use clipping planes on the whole flower with a slider ("section cut") — a global plane sweeping through the flower, cutting everything. With `renderer.localClippingEnabled = true` and clipping planes on all materials, you get a cutaway view but with hollow interiors (open geometry). For petals (DoubleSide) it looks okay-ish, but open cuts look hollow/cheap. The dedicated half-ovary approach is more crafted. I'll go with the dedicated approach, but keep it scoped: "Section" toggle affects the ovary only (the most anatomically interesting cut). Plus a small caption "longitudinal section showing ovules". Hmm, longitudinal vs transverse — I'll do a longitudinal half (cut along the axis, camera-facing side removed... but as the camera orbits, the cut side may face away). To handle orbiting, I could make the section always face camera by rotating the cut group? That would look weird for anatomy. Better: just let it be fixed; user can orbit to view. Or cut front half toward default camera. Fine — it's a 3D viewer; users orbit. Actually — for extra wow — an alternative: make the ovary cut transverse (a slice through the middle showing 3 chambers at that height), like a classic botany slide. A transverse cut: remove the top half of the ovary, cap with a flat disc showing the 3-chamber cross-section texture with ovules. Also chamber walls visible from above. Hmm, longitudinal shows ovules in rows better. I'll do longitudinal: half ovary with cut face showing 3 locules, each with 2 rows of ovules (lily placentation is axile). Ovules as tiny amber-white spheres with tiny funiculus stalks. In cross-section canvas texture, draw the pale chambers. Let me design coordinates: ovary along Y axis from y=0 (base) to y=1.3, radius ~0.34, slightly tapered (narrower at top and bottom, bulging middle). Cut plane = x-z... let's cut with plane x>=0 removed (front half removed when camera looks from +z... depends). The visible half: phi from -PI/2 to +PI/2 (z positive side? lathe rotates around Y; phiStart etc). I'll figure signs at implementation; keep half where x<=0 or z>=0 so the cut face faces the default camera at +z. Cut face: at plane x=0 (if we keep the half where z>=0... no). Let me define: lathe with phiStart = 0? In three.js LatheGeometry rotates points (x,y) around Y; phiStart=0 is at +x? The formula: vertex = (x*sin(phi), y, x*cos(phi)) I think. Actually LatheGeometry: `x * Math.sin(phi), y, x * Math.cos(phi)`? Let me recall the source: for LatheGeometry, vertices are computed as `sin(phi) * x` for X, `y` for Y, `cos(phi) * x`? Hmm — in three.js LatheGeometry code: ``` const sin = Math.sin( phi ); const cos = Math.cos( phi ); vertex.x = points[ i ].x * sin; vertex.y = points[ i ].y; vertex.z = points[ i ].x * cos; ``` So phi=0 → +z. phi from 0 to PI covers z+ → z- through +x: that's the x>=0 half. So LatheGeometry(points, segments, 0, PI) gives the half with x>=0. Then the cut face lies in the x=0 plane... wait no. If phi ∈ [0, π], sin(phi) >= 0, so x >= 0. The cut plane is x=0 (the y-z plane). The flat cut face is a shape in the y-z plane at x=0: a half-profile silhouette (the ovary profile: bulging elongated) extruded... no — the cut face for a longitudinal cut along the x=0 plane is the full profile region: points (z,y) where z² <= r(y)²... it's the region bounded by z = ±r(y). Since we kept x>=0 half, cut face at x=0 spans z from -r to +r and y from 0 to H. So the cut face is like a flattened lens/oval shape in the y-z plane: for each y, z ranges [-r(y), r(y)]. I can build this as a custom BufferGeometry: a grid over y and z with |z| <= r(y), positioned at x=0, normal = -x (facing into the kept half? No — facing outward toward -x, i.e., toward the viewer looking at the cut). Wait: kept half is x>=0; cut face should be visible from x<0 side, so its normal should point toward -x. Yes. On that face, texture: canvas showing the anatomy along (z, y) axes: outer skin at |z|=r, green rind, pale inner tissue, 3 chamber walls (axile placentation): walls radiating from center at angles 60°... in cross-section the 3 locules are at 120° apart; on the longitudinal cut face, you see 2 chambers cut through (the ones straddling the plane) and maybe the third's wall. Simplify: draw the cut face as: outer green ring region (wall), inner area divided by two faint septum lines into chambers with pale golden tissue and rows of ovule marks. Honestly, drawing it believably in canvas: vertical pale column in middle (septum axis), two side chambers each containing rows of small circles (ovules). Ovules will actually be 3D spheres placed on the face, so texture just needs tissue look: cream/green gradient, subtle noise, septum lines, chamber shading. 3D ovules: small spheres (r=0.02) with slight elongation, in 2 columns per chamber, ~6 per row, attached with tiny stalk lines (cylinders). Color: pale ivory with slight translucency (MeshPhysicalMaterial, transmission 0.3). This is going to be a delightful detail — the kind that makes it memorable. 9. **Pollen**: on the anthers, add pollen: either bumpy texture or actual tiny spheres cluster on anther tip. Tiny instanced spheres (InstancedMesh, ~60 per anther × 6) — orange-gold, emissive-ish? no glow — just bright matte orange. That plus a few "loose pollen" particles maybe. InstancedMesh of small icospheres with random scale/rotation on anther surface. Good. 10. **Petal texture** (canvas, 1024×2048 maybe 1024x1024): Lilium regale: white inside flushed... Regale lily: white with pink flush outside, yellow throat, brownish stem. Or use "Stargazer"-like pink with speckles — more visual richness. Let me choose Lilium 'Stargazer' style? Actually white-with-crimson-center is elegant against dark bg. Hmm — hyperrealistic and striking: a rich pink-magenta lily with darker central streaks and speckles reads lush. Lilium regale is white/ivory inside with golden throat and pink outer — beautiful, and on a dark background, ivory petals with subtle pink would look refined and "museum-like". But risk: white petals on dark bg might blow out or look flat. With good env lighting + subsurface, ivory petals look stunning on dark. I'll go with a refined palette: tepals ivory-white base, soft pink blush toward edges/tip on the outer side, golden-yellow fading into the throat near base with deep maroon-red central nectar streaks and scattered maroon speckles. That's true to Lilium regale and gorgeous. Speckles mostly in central third. Texture painting plan (canvas 1024×1024, mapped so petal spans full): - Base: vertical gradient ivory (#f7f2e6) at tip → warm white → near base golden yellow (#e8c25a → #caa93f). - Central band (midline horizontal center of the texture across length? The petal length runs along v). Let me map: geometry U across width, V along length (base v=0 to tip v=1) or vice versa. I'll construct petal geometry myself so I control UVs. - Nectar guide: from base, a triangular wedge of deeper gold/green at very base, then maroon-red streaks radiating up the center ~40% of length, fading. - Speckles: random dark maroon spots concentrated along the center 40% width, density increasing near middle, each an irregular blotch (2-4 overlapping circles with alpha). - Subtle veins: faint lighter/darker streaks radiating from base — draw many thin lines from base fanning out, low alpha darker. - Edge: slight rosy tint at margins, and at the very tip slight pink blush. Also darken very edges slightly for definition (ambient occlusion fake). - Also generate a matching roughness/bump? Could generate a bump map from the same speckles: bumpiness small. MeshPhysicalMaterial supports bumpMap — subtle bumpScale. Nice-to-have; maybe skip bump to save complexity, or cheaply reuse a noise canvas as bump. I can make a second canvas: mostly neutral gray with vein lines darker and speckles raised — set as bumpMap with small scale. It adds realism cheaply. Let's do it. Outer side of petals: the same texture (DoubleSide) will show through-ish; better: with DoubleSide, back face shows mirrored same texture — fine. But real lily outer is pinker. Could set `side: THREE.DoubleSide` and accept. Alternatively build actual two-sided shell. Keep DoubleSide — fine. 11. **Petal geometry construction**: Custom BufferGeometry. Define in cross-section: petal width w(u), centerline curve. Parametrize surface by (u ∈ [-1,1] across width, v ∈ [0,1] along length): - Length along a curve: the petal bows outward (bowl) and the tip recurves. Centerline in (r, y) cylindrical-ish: define points along v with radial distance R(v) and height Y(v): R rises from 0.2 at base to max at v≈0.65 then tip curls further out and slightly down... Lily tepal: rises up and outward, tip recurves outward/down. So Y(v): from 0 to ~1.6 at v=0.7 then slightly decreasing to 1.45 at tip while radius keeps increasing. Actually classic lily: tepals arc up and out, tips recurve strongly (bend outward/down). Parameterize with a curve: use a Bezier: P0=(0,0), P1=(0.35,1.5), P2=(1.5,1.7), P3=(2.2,0.9)?? That gives rising then out and down at tip. Let me define per-tepal local frame then rotate around flower axis. - Width profile: w(v) = max width ~0.75 at v≈0.5, tapering to a point at tip (v=1) and narrow base (0.18 at v=0). Use a nice curve: w = sin(pi * v^0.8) shaped... At v=0 width ~0.12 (base claw), peak around v=0.45-0.55 ~0.8, then taper to a rounded-acute tip. Formula: w(v) = 0.16 + 1.0 * (sin(pi*min(v*1.15,1))^1.2)*(1-v)^0.5... I'll tune with a spline evaluation — simplest: piecewise smooth: w(v)=w0*pow(sin(pi*v),0.7)? At v=0 → 0 which degenerates base to a point — bad, base should have width (claw ~0.18). So w(v) = 0.18 + (W-0.18)*sin(pi*v)^0.75*(something ensuring 0 at tip). sin(pi*v) is 0 at both ends. w(v)=0.18*(1-v)^2 + W*sin(pi*v^1.1)^0.8 maybe. I'll just code: `function widthProfile(v){ const taper = Math.pow(Math.sin(Math.PI * Math.pow(v,0.9)), 0.85); return 0.16 + 0.72 * taper * (1 - 0.9*Math.pow(v,3)); }` something ensuring tip narrow: at v→1 sin→0 so w→0.16*(0)→0... wait 0.16*(1-v)^2 also 0 at tip. Let me not over-plan; I'll write a reasonable profile and eyeball via code comments. Since I can't preview, I must be careful the formulas are sane. - Cross-section curvature: across width, petal cups: z_offset(u,v) = -cup * (u^2) * (some v dependence: stronger cup near base/middle, flatter at tip) + edge flare. Also edge ruffle: add high-frequency waviness near edges: ruffle = sin(u*freq + phase) * amp * smoothstep(edge region) * v-dependent (more ruffle toward tip). Also a slight twist/rotation along length. - The whole petal: base attaches at receptacle near center; assign each of 6 tepals a rotation around Y (60° apart), with the 3 outer slightly lower/wider vs 3 inner — real lilies have 3 outer + 3 inner tepals nearly same. Add per-tepal random jitter (rotation ±5°, scale ±5%) for organic feel. Implementation: build one function `buildTepalGeometry(seed)` returning BufferGeometry with positions, normals (computed), uvs. Grid resolution: 40 (u) × 60 (v) segments → 2400+ vertices, 6 petals ~ fine. Then rotate each by its angle, add to group. Store base transform for dissection animation (peel rotation around base point outward). 12. **Dissection animation model**: Each "part" (petal i, stamen i, pistil group, ovary, stem, sepals?) has: - `rest` position/quaternion - `open` transform (for petals: rotate outward ~70° around base pivot + slight droop; stamens: splay outward ~40° and rise slightly) - `detach` offset (fully removed: translate outward+down and fade? or move far away). Hmm "fully dissectable" suggests removal to inspect. I think best UX: slider "Dissection" 0→1 that (a) first opens the flower (petals peel), (b) then petals detach and drift outward/downward to a "specimen tray" arrangement? That's complex. Alternative: staged numbered dissection steps with buttons: Step 1 "Corolla (petals) removed", Step 2 "Stamens removed", Step 3 "Ovary sectioned". A stepper UI: "Dissection stages" I–IV, each click advances; also slider for continuous "exploded view". Let me define a clean, robust interaction model: - **Dissection slider (0–100)**: continuous "explode" — every part moves away from the flower center along a per-part direction, proportional to slider; petals go radially outward and slightly down, stamens outward, pistil up a bit, ovary stays. This gives a beautiful exploded anatomical view. Combined with per-part stagger via smoothstep windows so it feels choreographed: petals leave first (window 0–0.55, staggered per petal), stamens next (0.35–0.75), pistil lifts (0.6–0.9), ovary splits (section at >0.85?) hmm section is boolean. - **Part list toggles**: eye icons to hide/show individual parts (isolate). - **Click part** → highlight + info panel; also "focus" button to move camera? Keep camera user-driven with OrbitControls; add gentle auto-fit? Skip. - **"Section" toggle**: swaps ovary for cut half. - **Labels toggle**: shows leader-line annotations for all currently visible parts. Also petals could physically rotate as they detach (tumble slightly) — rotation during explode adds life. And subtle idle animation: whole flower sway (breathing) — small rotation oscillation, and the closed state... A gentle breeze sway makes it feel alive: rotate stem group by tiny sin. Also on load, an intro animation: flower blooms (petals animate from closed bud to open over ~2.5s). That's a fantastic first impression: page loads → bud opens into full lily while title fades in. Petal peel angle parameter already exists for "open" — reuse: animate `bloom` from 0.05→1 over first seconds using the same open transform. So petals have a state: closed (rotation about base so they're upright together forming a bud) → open (splayed ~55°) → detached (translated out). The dissect slider controls detach amount; bloom controls splay. Intro animates bloom 0→1. Also a "Re-bloom" / reset button replays it. This gives the "alive" feel. 13. **Highlight & picking**: Raycaster on pointer move → hover highlight (emissive lerp to soft warm tone, or better: material `emissive` with small intensity + slight scale? emissive tint is standard and fine, keep subtle e.g. emissive #ffffff * 0.12 with emissive color part-tinted). Also cursor pointer, and the label chip near cursor with part name. Click → select: shows detail card (name, latin, function description, count), highlights stronger, dims others slightly? Dimming others (opacity 0.15) is a nice "isolate" effect — but with transparent materials, could be messy. Alternative selection effect: outline via... simplest robust: selected part gets emissive highlight + its leader label pins; others stay. Plus info panel. Also double-click a part to hide it (peel away)? Keep: click = select/info; in the info card, buttons "Isolate" (hide all others) and "Hide" (remove this part). And "Show all" reset. This covers "fully dissectable". 14. **Info content** (botanical accuracy): - Tepal (perianth): "Tepal — Lilium's perianth of six tepals; sepals and petals undifferentiated..." Latin: Tepalum. - Filament (stamen stalk) — Filamentum; Anther — Anthera (pollen sacs, microsporangia); Pollen — Pollen. - Style — Stilus; Stigma — Stigma (sticky surface for pollen germination); Ovary — Ovarium (superior, trilocular); Ovule — Ovulum (becomes seed after fertilization); Receptacle — Receptaculum; Pedicel/stem — Pedicellus/Caulis. Each with a 1–2 sentence description. Numbered I–X with Roman numerals in the index. 15. **Leader-line labels implementation**: - `labelDefs`: [{partKey, anchor: Vector3 (local), offset dir}] - Each label: HTML div (absolutely positioned, class .tag) + SVG line + small dot at anchor. On each frame, project anchor world pos to screen (vector.project(camera)), place dot there; the label box placed at anchor + screen-space offset (fixed per label e.g. alternating left/right, or offset proportional to index). To avoid overlap complexities: place labels along left/right margins at fixed x, y distributed? Classic anatomical plates place labels around with lines. Simplest robust: label positions on a circle around screen center at radius min(w,h)*0.42, angle determined by anchor's angle relative to center — keeps labels from colliding mostly and lines radiate. Even simpler & elegant: offset each label from its anchor by fixed vector (e.g., 90px toward the outside of screen center). Collisions possible but acceptable; with ~10 labels and staggered anchors it's usually okay. Hmm, overlap could look sloppy. Let me do: compute anchor screen pos, compute direction from screen center to anchor (if near center, use (±1,0)), place label at anchor + dir * 110px. Labels are small chips. Add slight per-index vertical stagger baked into offset length (90 + (i%3)*22). Good enough and dynamic. - Label lines drawn on an absolutely positioned full-screen SVG (pointer-events none), stroke 1px, color rgba paper. - Hide labels whose part is hidden or whose anchor is behind the camera (check vector.z after project < 1 and dot product with camera direction) — also occlusion ignore (fine). - Toggle button "Labels" and auto-show after dissection > 0.3? I'll show labels toggle default ON but fade in after the intro bloom, and fade out during drag (orbiting) to reduce clutter? Fading during orbit is a nice touch: on controls start → labels fade to 0.25 opacity; on end → back. Simple. 16. **Lighting**: - `RoomEnvironment` via PMREM for IBL (scene.environment) — gives realistic sheen; intensity balanced. - A key DirectionalLight warm from upper front-left with shadows (PCFSoft). Shadow casting onto... a ground? A subtle ground disc (dark, mostly shadow-catching via ShadowMaterial with low opacity) grounds the model. Yes: circular pedestal? A museum-style subtle ground: dark disc with radial gradient (canvas texture) + shadow. Nice. - Rim/fill: cool dim directional from back-right, no shadow. - Tone mapping ACES, exposure ~1.0-1.15. - Renderer: antialias true, physicallyCorrectLights default in modern three (useLegacyLights false). three 0.160: `renderer.useLegacyLights = false` default already. Color: outputColorSpace = SRGBColorSpace. 17. **Stem & leaves**: Pedicel from ground up to receptacle: a slightly curved tube (CatmullRomCurve3 with slight S-bend), radius ~0.09 tapering, green material with roughness 0.55, subtle vertical streak texture (canvas: green base #4a5d3a with lighter/darker longitudinal striations). Add 2-3 narrow leaves along stem (same petal-builder with narrow width and green texture, curved down/arc out). Leaves add realism and fill composition. Also tiny bulb at base? The stem can just descend below "ground"; or end at a cut. I'll have stem go from y=-2.4 (below ground shadow disc at y=-2.4) to y=0 (receptacle). Actually set ground at y=-2.2, flower head around y=0..1.8. Hmm — but explode sends petals outward/down; ground at -2.2 is far enough. Wait — better composition: flower head at center of view (y≈0.6 world), stem down to ground disc at y≈-2.5. Camera target (0, 0.4, 0). Exploded petals translate outward radially and slightly down but stay above ground. 18. **Materials list**: - petalMat: MeshPhysicalMaterial{ map: petalTexture, bumpMap, bumpScale 0.02?, roughness 0.45, sheen 0.6, sheenRoughness 0.5, sheenColor 0xffd9e6, side DoubleSide, transmission 0.12? transmission with DoubleSide can cause artifacts; maybe use transparent:false and rely on sheen + wrap-light injection }. I'll inject wrap diffuse via onBeforeCompile to get that glowing-through petal translucency. Injection: modify `#include `... simpler known trick: replace `getDistanceAttenuation`? The common SSS trick for Lambert: modify the diffuse calculation by patching `RE_Direct`? With MeshPhysicalMaterial, patching is heavier. Simplest widely-used: patch the `lights_fragment_begin` chunk's NdotL? In physical shader, there are multiple. Alternative easier: use `transmission: 0.25, thickness: 0.6, ior 1.35, attenuationColor pinkish` — MeshPhysicalMaterial handles it natively; with a single flower perf is fine. But transmission requires `transparent`? No — transmission works without transparent flag (renders transmissive pass). With side: DoubleSide + transmission there can be sorting weirdness but generally okay in recent three versions. Risky without preview... Safer craft choice: use MeshPhysicalMaterial without transmission, but add a custom emissive-ish "backlight" term via onBeforeCompile adding `translucency`: add to totalDiffuse a term proportional to pow(max(dot(-N... Actually here's a clean injection that works on any material: patch `#include ` to add `transmittedLight = uLightPos...`—needs uniforms. Doable: add uniforms for light dir & color and view. Let me do a focused injection: ``` petalMat.onBeforeCompile = (shader)=>{ shader.uniforms.uLightDir = keyLightDirUniform; // vec3 world shader.uniforms.uSubColor = { value: new THREE.Color(0xffc9b0) }; shader.vertexShader = shader.vertexShader.replace('#include ', '#include \nvarying vec3 vWorldPos2; varying vec3 vWorldNormal2;') .replace('#include ', '#include \n vWorldPos2 = (modelMatrix * vec4(transformed,1.0)).xyz; vWorldNormal2 = normalize(mat3(modelMatrix) * objectNormal);'); ``` Hmm, worldpos_vertex only defines worldPosition if certain conditions; safer to compute my own varying as above (transformed is available in worldpos chunk... `transformed` exists in project_vertex earlier; using it after worldpos include is fine). Fragment: after `#include `? Instead patch `#include `? In newer three (>=r154?) `output_fragment` renamed `opaque_fragment`. Version-sensitive — risky. Safer patch point: `#include ` replace with itself + add translucency to totalEmissiveRadiance: ``` shader.fragmentShader = shader.fragmentShader .replace('#include ', `#include { vec3 L = normalize(uLightDir); vec3 V = normalize(cameraPosition - vWorldPos2); float backLit = pow(clamp(dot(V, -(L + vWorldNormal2 * 0.6)), 0.0, 1.0), 3.0) ; float rim = pow(1.0 - clamp(dot(V, vWorldNormal2),0.,1.), 2.5); totalEmissiveRadiance += uSubColor * (backLit * 0.55 + rim * 0.08); }`); ``` Hmm — the classic wrap/translucency: light passing through the petal toward camera when V ≈ -L relative to surface: dot(V, -L)... When viewing the shadow side with light behind petal: transmitted = pow(saturate(dot(V, -L)), p). Using normal: dot(normalize(-L + N*distortion), V). That's the standard "fast SSS" from GDC. `float VdotL = dot(V, -(L + N*distortion)); trans = pow(saturate(VdotL), power) * scale;` then multiply by light color and an "ambient" attenuation and NdotL on the front... Fine. Also multiply by a texture-based thickness? Use (1 - texture brightness) — thinner petals transmit more at edges. I could pass an attenuation from a "translucency map" = inverted base map... keep simple: scale by 0.5. `totalEmissiveRadiance` is available in the fragment and it's added to outgoing light — yes, physical materials add totalEmissiveRadiance in the final lighting. And emissivemap_fragment exists in physical shader. Good — this injection is version-safe-ish for 0.160. I'll pin the version with importmap (0.160.0) so chunk names are stable. In r160, the chunk `emissivemap_fragment` definitely exists; final output chunk is `opaque_fragment` (renamed in r154) — I don't need it since I add via emissive. Also need to declare uniforms in fragment: prepend `uniform vec3 uLightDir; uniform vec3 uSubColor;` and varyings both shaders. And set `petalMat.customProgramCacheKey`? Not needed if only one material instance... Each material compile happens once; onBeforeCompile assigned before first render — fine. - antherMat: MeshStandardMaterial, color #8a5a2b... anthers of lily are rusty orange-brown, elongated. With rough canvas texture (mottled) + bump. - pollen: bright #e2a52f / #d99327, roughness 0.9, slight emissive #402a08? no — keep emissive 0; bright color + env is fine. Maybe slight emissive #fl... no. - filamentMat: pale green-white #d8d9b8? lily filaments are pale greenish-cream. roughness .5. - styleMat: pale green #cfd39f; stigmaMat: slightly darker, maybe sticky sheen — glossy (roughness 0.25). - ovaryMat: green #7a8f56 with vertical streaks texture (canvas: green with slightly darker longitudinal striations + noise), roughness 0.55. - stemMat: similar darker green #55703f, streak texture, roughness 0.7. bump. - leafMat: green both sides, DoubleSide, canvas leaf texture (green with lighter midrib and parallel veins). 19. **Ground**: circular disc radius ~4 with radial-gradient canvas texture (near-black #101210 center to transparent edge? or to scene bg). Use a ShadowMaterial on separate mesh for shadow catch: mesh circle at y=-2.49 rotated flat with `ShadowMaterial opacity 0.35`. Plus a subtle "pedestal ring"? Maybe a faint hairline circle drawn via ring geometry with low-opacity paper color — museum vibe. And a subtle radial gradient "spotlight pool" texture disc (MeshBasicMaterial with canvas radial gradient from rgba(255,244,220,0.05) to transparent). Tasteful. Scene background: very dark warm charcoal #0d0f0c? With slight vertical gradient via CSS behind canvas? Canvas covers everything; set renderer clear color and add CSS body background for UI. Fog: subtle fog matching bg for depth: THREE.FogExp2(0x0d0f0c, 0.045) — helps petals far side recede. Careful: fog on exploded view fine. 20. **UI structure** (HTML/CSS): - Fonts: Google Fonts — display serif "Cormorant Garamond" (600 + italic) and a small-caps-friendly sans "Archivo" or "Spectral"? For an anatomical-plate look, use "Cormorant Garamond" for the big italic species name and a mono/grotesque for labels: "Space Grotesk"? Hmm, botanical plates: serif + letterspaced caps. I'll pick: headings "Cormorant Garamond" (elegant, sharp), UI "Instrument Sans"? Keep it classic: labels in "Cormorant" caps with tracking might get illegible at small sizes. Use a neutral sans for tiny labels: "Archivo" 11px letterspaced uppercase. Good pairing. - Palette: bg #0e100d (canvas), text #ece5d3 (paper), hairlines rgba(236,229,211,0.18), accent #c8a24a (antique gold) used sparingly, plus deep green #37402e. - Top-left: plate header: ``` BOTANICAL PLATE · Nº 7 Lilium regale (italic serif, large) dissection study — interactive anatomical model ``` - Left edge (below header): parts index list: each row: Roman numeral, name, latin in italic, visibility toggle (small icon button — use an inline SVG eye, not emoji). Hover row → highlight part in 3D. Click row → select part (open info card). The icon set: I'll inline a few tiny SVGs (eye, eye-off, section/scalpel, tag). Using inline SVG avoids icon-lib CDN weight — but "use an icon library for small icons" is my own norm; inline SVG icons hand-drawn are even better (crafted). I'll hand-inline minimal SVG icons (eye, eye-off, rotate/reset, tag, crosshair). That's fine — they're proper icons, not emoji. - Bottom center: control bar: Dissection slider (custom styled range), buttons: Labels (toggle), Section (toggle), Reset (re-bloom), Auto-rotate (toggle). Also "stage" quick buttons? The slider covers it. Maybe preset stage chips: "Specimen", "Corolla lifted", "Stamens exposed", "Exploded", "Sectioned"? That's a nice guided path: clicking a stage sets slider target + section toggle with smooth tween. Let me add 4 small stage buttons under the slider: I. Intact → II. Corolla reflexed (petals open wide via bloom=1... bloom is intro) hmm. Simplify final control set: - Dissection slider (0–100) — exploded separation. - Toggle: Labels (default on) - Toggle: Ovary section - Button: Reset (replays bloom intro & slider to 0) - Toggle: Auto-orbit (slow cinematic rotation, default on until user drags? Nice: auto-rotate on load, stops on first user drag.) - Bottom-left / right: selected part info card: name serif, latin italic, numeral, description, buttons: Isolate, Hide, Close. - Small hint text bottom-right: "drag to orbit · scroll to zoom · click a part to identify". - Loading: since everything procedural, load is instant; but intro bloom covers it. Add a brief overlay fade "Lilium regale — preparing specimen" that fades. Keep it minimal. Also a "hover chip": small floating label near cursor showing part name on hover — implemented as a div following pointer. 21. **Explode mapping details**: - Part groups & directions: - 6 tepals: pivot at base (0,0,0 local at receptacle top). Dissect: rotate outward progressively around base axis (radial) — angle from bloomOpen(55°) to 95° (reflexed) during first 20% of slider, then translate radially outward +8 units? Too far; petals radius direction * (2.5 * ease) and y -0.5. Also spin around own axis slightly. - Actually cleaner: each part has `explodeDir` (unit vector), `explodeDist`, `explodeSpin` (axis+angle). Slider t: offset = dir * dist * easeInOut(clamp(remap(t, start, end))). Windows: petal i: start = i*0.05, end = 0.75. Stamen i: start = 0.15 + i*0.04, end = 0.8. Pistil: start 0.45, end 0.95 — pistil moves up +1.4 and stays (it's the "core"). Ovary section: at t>0.5 with section toggle... keep independent toggle. Stem: moves down -1.0 (start 0.5, end 1). Sepals? Lilies have tepals only (no distinct sepals) — index will note "tepals (perianth segments)". - During explode, also rotate petals to face camera? No — keep them oriented same as original (just translated), like anatomical specimens; add slight tumble for life: rotation around petal's local length axis ~30°. - Also a "dissection" continuous idea: as slider grows, petals also separate *rotationally* — the peel angle from 55° to fully reflexed 110° looks great. I'll combine: petal transform = f(t): peelAngle = lerp(bloom*55°, 110°, ease(t)) and radial translate. Hmm wait, petals initially (bloom intro) go from closed (angle ~5° from vertical) to open (55°). So petal pivot rotation = angle measured from vertical axis: closed 8°, open 58°, exploded 100°+. The dissect slider adds: angle → open + t*45° and translate outward by t*2.2 along radial + y - t*0.9. Tumble: rotate around own center for organic scatter: petal.rotation on its own axis via pre/post transforms — implement with nested groups: pivotGroup (position at base attach point, rotation = peel tilt) → offsetGroup (position translation for explode) → mesh (geometry built pointing +Y from origin...). Simpler: build petal geometry in local space starting at origin extending +Y and curling outward in +Z? Let me define petal local: base at (0,0,0), extends upward +Y with outward curvature toward +Z as v increases. Then pivot group at flower center at angle θ: pivot.rotation.y = θ, and peel = pivot.rotation.x? Rotating around local X at base tips it outward toward +Z which is the radial direction after pivot.rotation.y. So: pivot.rotation.set(peelAngleAroundX? tilt about the axis perpendicular to radial — rotating around local X axis by -(90°-angle)... Let me set: petal local +Y up; tilt angle α from vertical: pivot.rotation.x = -(90° - α)?? If α=90°, petal points +Z (horizontal): rotation.x = -90°... rotating +Y around X by -90°: y→ -z? Rotation about X by angle φ: Y axis rotates toward Z for positive φ (right-hand rule: X cross... rotating vector (0,1,0) about X by +φ gives (0, cosφ, sinφ)). So rotation.x = φ tips petal toward +Z. φ=0 → vertical (closed-ish). φ=60° → open. φ=100° → reflexed below horizontal. And the petal's natural curvature also bends toward +Z in local space (bowl opening up/outward? Wait — flower bowl: petals curve outward from center. If petal local geometry curls toward +Z (outward radial) — combined with pivot at center, the flower opens upward like a trumpet then tips recurve outward. Lily form: tepals rise steeply from base, then curve outward, tips recurving. So local petal: starts at origin along +Y, gradually bending toward +Z: centerline direction rotates from vertical to increasingly +Z, tip may curve down slightly (beyond horizontal → direction has -Y at very tip). Parametrize centerline with angle θ(v) from vertical: θ(0)=0.1 rad, θ increases to ~1.5 rad at v=1 (85°, tip pointing outward-downish). Position = integrate direction. Precompute centerline points: p(v), and frame (tangent, side normal). Cross-section across side vector S = pivot's local X. This is a proper sweep surface. Let me implement: ``` // centerline const segsV = 48, segsU = 24? For quality: 36×64. θ(v) = θ0 + (θ1-θ0)*v^1.6? Let θ0 = 0.12, θ1 = 2.0 rad (115°) — tip recurved past horizontal. dir(v) = (0, cos θ, sin θ). p(v) = ∫ dir dv * L(v) scaled: total arc length ~2.2. ``` Compute by stepping: p[i+1] = p[i] + dir * ds where ds = L/segsV. Then width across x-axis: x = u * w(v)/2 (u ∈ [-1,1]). Cupping: offset along -dir-normal? Cross-section curl: petals cup toward the flower center (concave inner). Inner side faces up/center. The petal surface point = p(v) + side*x + curlDirection * (c * x²) where curlDirection = normal pointing "up-inner" = (0, sinθ, -cosθ)?? The normal perpendicular to tangent in the radial plane: n = (0, sin? Let me: tangent t=(0,cosθ,sinθ); in-plane normal pointing "above" surface (toward center axis of flower when petal is vertical): n = (0, sinθ, -cosθ)? Check θ=0: t=(0,1,0); n=(0,0,-1) points toward -Z (flower center if petal leans +Z? petal at origin leaning outward +Z, center is -Z direction) yes n points to center-ish at base. For cupping (concave toward center/inner), surface should curve toward n: offset = c(v) * x² * n with c>0 pulls edges toward center — that makes a channel. Real tepal: cupped near base (channel with nectar), flattening and slightly wavy toward tip. c(v) = 0.22*(1-v)^1.5 + 0.04. Also longitudinal: the centerline sweep handles it. Ruffle: x_edges get ±: additional offset along t * sin(k*x*π) near edges: ruffle = sin(x * 9 + v*2) * 0.045 * smoothstep(0.5,1,|u|... let me apply ruffle as function of position along width: amp = 0.05 * v * (|u|^1.5) — edges wave, stronger toward tip. Apply along n direction (edge flutter both in-plane normal) plus a little along t. Fine. UV: u→(u+1)/2, v→v. Normal computation: use BufferGeometry.computeVertexNormals() after building indexed grid. Also slight asymmetric per-petal jitter via seed: θ1 ± 0.15, width ± 6%, ruffle phase random. And the 3 "outer" tepals slightly narrower & a bit more recurved vs "inner" — set via seed per index. Tip: make sure tip isn't a hard point: widthProfile→0 smoothly at v=1 (w≈0) fine. Base attachment: petals attach around receptacle top radius ~0.28: pivot.position = (sin(θ_i)*0.24, 0.05, cos(θ_i)*0.24)? Wait pivot rotated about Y by θ_i so local +Z points radially outward at angle θ_i: pivot.rotation.y = θ_i, position = (sinθ_i * r0, y0, cosθ_i * r0). With r0 = 0.22, y0 = 0.15 (above receptacle base). Actually order: group hierarchy: tepalPivot (rotation.y=θ_i, position=radial offset) — but rotation applies around its own origin; if I set position then rotation, rotation is still around the placed origin (rotations are local). The peel rotation.x must happen around the base point at the receptacle — pivot's origin is at the attach point, so pivot.rotation.x tips around attach point. But rotation order: Euler default XYZ: applied as R = Rx*Ry*Rz? three.js Euler order 'XYZ' means rotation matrix = Rz then Ry then Rx? Actually three composes as R = Rx * Ry * Rz (extrinsic? intrinsic ZYX). Hmm — with order 'XYZ', rotations are applied in the order X, then Y, then Z in local (intrinsic) sequence: resulting matrix M = Rx·Ry·Rz? Let me recall: `Euler order 'XYZ'` produces quaternion via setFromEuler that applies... In three.js, 'XYZ' means: rotate around X, then around Y, then around Z, each around the *local* axes (intrinsic), so world matrix = Rx * Ry * Rz? Intrinsic x→y→z equals extrinsic z→y→x reversed... To be safe, I'll use nested groups: outer group with rotation.y = θ_i (azimuth) and inner "peel" group with rotation.x = φ, containing the mesh built in local space where +Z is outward. Then peel tips the petal outward in the azimuthal direction regardless of composition order, because they're separate groups. Clean. So hierarchy per tepal: azGroup(position = attach, rotation.y=θ) → peelGroup(rotation.x=φ, and later explode translation/rotation) → mesh(local geometry). Explode translation applied to azGroup.position (radial direction = (sinθ, 0, cosθ)) plus y. Good — everything simple. - Stamens: 6, azimuth offset by 60° interleaved with tepals (real lily stamens alternate with tepals: opposite tepals actually... whatever, 60° offset staggered 30°). Filament: curve from base point (radius 0.14, y 0.12) rising and arcs outward: end at radius ~0.75, height ~1.55 with tip tilting outward. Anther attached at tip, oriented along tangent, dangling/tilting ~35-50° from filament direction. Filament geometry: TubeGeometry along CatmullRom with radius 0.028 tapering (TubeGeometry has constant radius; tapering needs custom — accept constant thin, or build custom tube with taper: use a small helper to build tapered tube... simpler: use radius 0.025 constant — thin enough that taper unnoticeable. OK constant. Actually I can cheat: two-radius by scaling? skip). - Anther: build with a "lozenge" profile: LatheGeometry around local X axis? Anther = elongated capsule slightly flattened, with a longitudinal sulcus (groove). Craft: use a scaled sphere: SphereGeometry scaled (0.16, 0.045, 0.055)? Lily anther: ~0.35 long × 0.08 wide × 0.06 thick, attached at its back (dorsifixed), swinging loose. Build as CapsuleGeometry(radius 0.04, length 0.3) scaled (1, 1, 0.65) → flattened capsule. Rotate to hang at ~40° below the filament tip direction. Texture: anther canvas — orange-brown with darker seam along one side and slight foveolate texture (random darker pores). Plus pollen instanced spheres sprinkled on the anther surface (distal face) and around tip. Also stamens twitch? no. - Also: stamens in exploded view translate outward more than petals? Distinct distance so shapes read: stamens dist 2.8 radial. - Pistil: ovary lathe from y 0.02→1.05, r ~0.3 bulge mid; style tube from 1.0→2.1 slight curve (straight cylinder fine with slight lean), radius 0.045; stigma at top: sphere r 0.085 scaled (1, 0.75, 1) with a slightly bumpy surface (displace vertices with noise?) simple: use sphere with slight noise displacement for organic look + glossy green material (stigma of lily is green, sticky). Style pale green, ovary green. - Receptacle: small lathe dome r 0.32 height 0.22 green, tepals/stamens attach around its top edge. - Stem: curve from (0.14,-2.35, -0.05) up to (0,0,0) with gentle S: points [(0.1,-2.4,0.1),( -0.06,-1.5,0.05),(0.04,-0.7,-0.02),(0,0,0)] CatmullRom, TubeGeometry radius 0.085 → taper? constant ok; add subtle noise displacement? skip. Leaves: 3 leaves at various heights/azimuths: use a narrow version of petal geometry with green texture, drooping outward. To keep it manageable, leaves = simplified curved blade: reuse buildBladeGeometry with different params (width 0.28, length 1.1, curl down). Position on stem at heights -1.0, -1.6, -2.0, azimuth random, tilt ~50° downward curve. Leaves enhance realism a lot. Node/bud remnants? skip. 22. **Ovary section construction** (as designed above): - Group `ovarySectionGroup`: - halfLathe: LatheGeometry(profile pts, 32, 0, π) → half with x≥0 as computed above (sinφ≥0). Wait we want the *front* (camera at +Z default) removed. Camera default at (0, ~1.4, ~6.5)? OrbitControls target (0,0.55,0). So +Z faces camera. Keep the half x≤0 (behind) and show cut face facing +Z? But cut face for half x≤0 lies in plane x=0 facing +x — that's a side plane, only visible edge-on... Hmm. Better: cut along the plane z? Let me reconsider: remove the half *nearest the camera*: the near half. If camera looks from +Z, near half = z≥0. Keep z≤0 half. Cut plane z=0 (x-y plane), face normal +Z (toward camera). LatheGeometry phi: x = r sinφ, z = r cosφ. φ ∈ [π/2, 3π/2] gives cosφ ≤ 0 → z ≤ 0 half. phiStart = π/2, phiLength = π. Then cut face at z=0: spans x∈[-r(y), r(y)], y∈[0, H]; normal +Z. I'll build the cut face as ShapeGeometry? A flat shape in x-y plane: shape = the profile silhouette: for y from 0..H, half-width r(y): an outline path: go up right side (x=+r(y)) then down left side — I can approximate with the same profile function: build Shape via points (r(y_i), y_i) then back down (-r(y_i), y_i). ShapeGeometry from that → flat mesh at z=0 facing +Z (ShapeGeometry faces +Z by default). UVs of ShapeGeometry are raw x/y coords — I can set texture mapping by scaling: uv = (x/(2R)+0.5, y/H)? ShapeGeometry generates UVs equal to vertex positions (unscaled) — actually ShapeGeometry sets uv = (x, y) raw... In three r160 ShapeGeometry uvs are the raw coordinates? I believe ShapeGeometry sets uv = position xy. Then my canvas texture with appropriate transform... easier: after creating geometry, compute my own uv attribute from positions. Fine. - On the cut face, add 3D ovules: chamber positions: lily ovary has 3 locules around the central axis; the cut plane z=0 passes through... a longitudinal cut through axis hits 2 locules fully (cut through their middles) if locules centered at angles 90°+... place locule centers at azimuths 90°, 210°, 330° (in x-z plane around axis). Cut plane z=0 (x-axis lies in cut plane): locule at azimuth 90° is at (r?,0)... In the cut face (x-y plane at z=0): locule at azimuth 90° means direction (sin90=1, cos90=0) → +x side: cut passes through it showing a full chamber section; locule at 210°: (sin210=-0.5, cos210=-0.866) → behind plane (z<0), visible only if within the kept half... it's in 3D space behind the cut face — occluded by the wall? The kept half is z≤0, includes locule at 210 (z=-0.87R) and 330 (z=+0.87R — removed half). So visually: cut face shows one full chamber (+x side), plus edges of the 210° chamber's inner wall. Hmm — real longitudinal sections do look like that (asymmetric). But for the *slide-like* classic look, anatomy diagrams cut through 2 chambers. Simplify to what reads best: on the cut face, draw/construct 2 chambers (one each side of a central septum column): classic botanical plate look: ovary wall ring, center column (placenta), two chambers with rows of ovules. Honestly the most readable: treat the cut face as showing 2 locules. I'll construct on the face: central pale column (septum+placenta) ~ width 0.07x full height; each side a chamber region with rows of ovules (small spheres ~r 0.035, elongated (scale 1, 1.5, 1), tilted inward ~40°, in 2 columns × 6 rows per chamber, pale ivory-gold, slight transmission/gloss) each with a tiny stalk (thin cylinder r 0.004) connecting to the central column. That's ~24 ovule meshes + stalks — small count, could just merge into one geometry via manual BufferGeometry merge... simplest: create them as individual meshes in a group (24 spheres of 8×6 segments = trivial perf). - Cut face texture: canvas 512×512: pale yellow-green tissue (#dfe6b8) with subtle vertical striations, darker green margin band along the outer edge (wall ~15% of width: from |x|=r inward 0.12r darker green #7f9457), thin dark septum lines where chamber walls are... Actually with 3D ovules sitting on the face, texture just needs: outer wall band, central column tint, chamber floor slightly recessed shading. Draw: base pale, radial-ish gradient darker at edges, wall band, column center vertical band slightly darker cream, faint chamber boundary curves, fine noise speckle. Good enough with ovules carrying the story. - Also the half-lathe outer surface should be the ovary skin texture; its inner side visible (backside of the half shell — you'd see the inner cavity of the kept half from camera? Looking from +Z into the removed half: you see the cut face; the shell's inner surface visible only from behind/around. With DoubleSide material, shell shows fine. - Style continues on top of half ovary — keep style/stigma shared with main pistil? The pistil group = style+stigma meshes + ovary meshes (full & section variant). Section toggle: fullOvary.visible=false; sectionGroup.visible=true (contains half lathe + cutface + ovules). Style unchanged. - When sectioned, also show label "ovule" etc. 23. **Roman numeral parts list** (index UI): I. Tepal (outer whorl) — Tepalum II. Tepal (inner whorl) III. Filament — Filamentum IV. Anther — Anthera (w/ pollen — maybe separate: V. Pollen — Granum pollinis) V. Pollen VI. Style — Stilus VII. Stigma — Stigma VIII. Ovary — Ovarium IX. Ovule — Ovulum (only when sectioned; grayed otherwise — or always listed, clicking turns section on! Nice touch: clicking Ovule in the index enables section mode automatically.) X. Receptacle — Receptaculum XI. Pedicel (stem) — Pedicellus XII. Leaf — Folium? Keep list focused ~10 rows. Group rows: "Perianth", "Androecium", "Gynoecium", "Axis" section headers — very botanical-plate. 24. **Interaction wiring**: - `parts` registry: key → { name, latin, numeral, group (THREE.Group), anchorLocal (Vector3 for label anchor), explode: {dir computed from azimuth, dist, window}, visible, selectable meshes list, description }. - Tepals: 6 individual or grouped as "outer whorl"/"inner whorl"? For click-selection, clicking any outer tepal selects "outer whorl"? Better: each tepal individually selectable for hide (dissecting one by one — "fully dissectable"!). Yes — individual petals hide-able: click petal → info card has "Remove" button; or alt-click quick remove. Also part list rows per whorl control visibility of all 3 at once. Let me define parts at two granularities: "units" (6 tepals, 6 stamens, style, stigma, ovary...) for picking, and "index rows" (whorl-level) for the list. Info card appears per unit (e.g., "Tepal III — inner whorl"). Row hover highlights all units of that row. Keep mapping clean. Actually simpler & still rich: parts = 12 entries (the index rows), where perianth outer (3 petals grouped), inner (3), stamens row = filament+anther together? Hmm "Anther" and "Filament" separate rows is more anatomical. Rows: Perianth: I Outer tepals (3), II Inner tepals (3) — hover highlights all 3; hide shows/hides all 3. But individually clicking a single petal in 3D: selects the whorl. To keep scope sane, whorl-level is fine; but per-petal hiding is delightful for "dissecting" one at a time... I'll add: in the 3D view, double-click a petal to pluck just that one (falls away with animation: tween position down/out + rotation, then visible=false). Single click selects whorl. Double-click = "pluck" works for tepals, stamens, and even pistil parts (ovary can't be plucked alone? allow: style/stigma/ovary pluckable individually; ovary plucks revealing... just hides; section still available via toggle). Plucked parts can be restored via "Restore all" (reset button) or clicking their index row eye. This is a great "dissection" feel: pluck petals one at a time to reveal what's inside. Animate pluck: small tween: lift + tumble + fade? Fading needs transparent materials (petal DoubleSide already; making transparent at runtime toggles material transparent — would affect all petals sharing material). Use per-unit material clones? Petals share one material for perf but 6 materials is nothing. Clone material per petal? Then opacity fades per petal fine. But transmission/complexity... I'll clone petal material per tepal (6 clones, each with same texture) — enables per-tepal emissive highlight anyway (hover highlight of a single petal needs per-tepal material, else all glow). Yes — definitely per-unit material instances for highlight/opacity. 6 petals + 6 stamens... stamen has filament+anther+pollen (3 materials) — for highlight, could apply emissive to all materials in the unit. Manageable: unit.materials = [...] clones. Tween helper: tiny custom tween function (no lib): `animate(duration, ease, onUpdate, onComplete)` list processed in RAF. Fine. - Hover: raycast → unit; set highlight (emissive to accent, e.g., emissive 0x2a2410? For petals (light color), an emissive of warm gold at 0.18 intensity tints visibly. Use material.emissive = accent color * k. Smooth: track highlight intensity per unit, lerp toward target each frame in the render loop. Nice soft glow-free highlight (it's emissive tint — is that "glow"? It's a selection tint, standard in 3D viewers — fine, subtle). - Cursor chip: div near pointer: part name + numeral. Position at pointer+offset, hidden when none. - Click empty space: deselect. 25. **Auto-orbit**: controls.autoRotate = true speed 0.6; on 'start' event (user drag) disable permanently until re-enabled via toggle. Default ON. 26. **Intro sequence**: - overlay with title fades out (CSS transition) after load (fonts may load via Google Fonts CDN — fine). - camera starts slightly farther + lower, eases in? OrbitControls with manual camera tween before enabling... simpler: set camera at final pos, and animate bloom 0→1 over 2.6s with cubic ease, plus a slow autoRotate active. And petals' `bloom` param: bud state φ=~0.1 rad → open φ=1.05 rad. During intro, disable dissection slider? Slider independent; if user grabs slider immediately, bloom continues anyway — fine, parameters compose: finalPetalTilt = base(bloom) + dissectAdd. - Also fade-in labels after intro (delay 3s), stagger via CSS transition-delay per label? Keep simple fade. 27. **Performance**: single flower, ~30k-60k triangles, fine. Shadows 2048 map. Pixel ratio min(devicePixelRatio, 2). 28. **Sky/env**: RoomEnvironment gives neutral studio reflections — good for "hyperreal". scene.environment = pmrem(RoomEnvironment).texture. Set `scene.environmentIntensity`? r160 supports scene.environmentIntensity? Added r163 I think (envIntensity per scene came in r163; materials have envMapIntensity). Set envMapIntensity per material ~0.5-0.8 so it doesn't look blown. Use version 0.160.0 — verify unpkg path exists: `https://unpkg.com/three@0.160.0/build/three.module.js` yes. addons: `https://unpkg.com/three@0.160.0/examples/jsm/controls/OrbitControls.js` yes; RoomEnvironment at `examples/jsm/environments/RoomEnvironment.js` yes. RoomEnvironment constructor in r160: `new RoomEnvironment()` (renderer arg not needed; in some versions it took renderer param — RoomEnvironment( renderer ) was never needed; it's `new RoomEnvironment()` and PMREMGenerator.fromScene(roomEnv, 0.04)). OK. Also OrbitControls import from 'three/addons/controls/OrbitControls.js' with importmap mapping 'three/addons/' → examples/jsm/. Good. Google Fonts: link tags for Cormorant Garamond (400,600 + italic) and Archivo (or 'Instrument Sans'). Choose: `Cormorant+Garamond:ital,wght@0,400;0,600;1,400;1,500` and `Archivo:wght@400;500;600`. Archivo has good small caps? We'll use letterspaced uppercase Archivo 10-11px. OK. 29. **SVG label leader lines**: full-screen `

IVAnther

`. Anchor points: per part, local anchor on geometry (e.g., petal mid-tip point of petal #1 of whorl, stamen anther center of #1, etc.). For whorl-level labels, anchor to a representative member (index 0) — or compute dynamic anchor = centroid of visible members' anchor points... keep representative first visible member. Labels list (about 9): Tepal, Filament, Anther, Pollen (anchor at anther tip), Stigma, Style, Ovary, Receptacle, Pedicel, Leaf, + Ovule (only when sectioned). Positions: anchorWorld = part.group.localToWorld(anchorLocal.clone()) — but groups move during explode so anchor tracks — good. Occlusion: ignore (labels always on top) — acceptable. When dissect slider = 0 and labels on: it's a full flower — labels around it look like a botanical plate. 30. **Info card content** — write concise, accurate botanical descriptions: - Outer/Inner tepals: "Six undifferentiated perianth segments — lilies carry no separate sepals and petals. The inner whorl broadens to present the nectar guides..." - Filament: "The stalk that lifts the anther into the flight path of pollinators..." - Anther: "Bilobed pollen sac; meiosis inside produces microspores that mature into pollen." - Pollen: "Male gametophyte... Each grain is a single cell with a sculpted wall; in Lilium it's sticky, heavy, and insect-borne." - Style: "Conduit down which the pollen tube grows after germination on the stigma." - Stigma: "The sticky, receptive apex that captures and hydrates pollen." - Ovary: "Superior, trilocular; each of three chambers bears two rows of ovules on an axile placenta." - Ovule: "The megagametophyte; after fertilisation it matures into the seed." - Receptacle: "The compressed stem axis from which all floral organs arise." - Pedicel/stem: "Supporting stalk; conducts water and sugars to the flower." - Leaf: photosynthetic. 31. Let me also handle **resize**, **pointer events** (raycast on pointermove; click vs drag disambiguation: track pointerdown pos, if moved < 5px on pointerup → click). 32. **Section toggle should also move camera?** no. 33. Let me now write down concrete geometry numbers: Coordinate system: flower center/receptacle top at y=0. Stem descends to y=-2.45. Tepal length ~2.0 arc. Stamen: anther top at y≈1.5, radius 0.8. Style tip at y≈2.1. So flower spans y∈[0, 2.1]; camera target (0, 0.9, 0)? Hmm, the composition: flower head + some stem + ground. Total height ~4.5. Camera: fov 40, position (0.0, 1.6, 7.2), target (0, 0.65, 0). Ground disc at y=-2.45. Explosion offsets ≤ ~2.6 → scene fits. Controls: minDistance 2.2, maxDistance 14. maxPolarAngle ~1.65 rad (a bit past horizon so users can look slightly up from below the flower but not under the ground... polar angle 0 = top? In OrbitControls polar 0 is +Y (looking straight down from above)? Actually polar angle measured from +Y: 0 → camera directly above. maxPolarAngle default π (below). Ground disc visible from below looks bad; limit maxPolarAngle to ~1.62 (slightly below horizontal). Fine. Bloom intro: camera also slowly dollies? Keep simple: fixed camera + autoRotate. Fog: FogExp2(#0d0e0b, 0.055)? At distance 7 that's exp(-0.385²*?) FogExp2 factor = exp(-(density*depth)^2)= exp(-(0.055*7)^2)=exp(-0.148)=0.86 — subtle darkening of far side. OK density 0.045. Key light: DirectionalLight #fff3e0 intensity 2.2? With ACES and physically correct lights, directional intensity ~2-3 is reasonable. position (3.5, 5, 4), castShadow, shadow camera box ±4, mapSize 2048, bias -0.0005, normalBias 0.02. Fill: DirectionalLight #b9c8ff*? cool fill from (-4, 2, -3) intensity 0.5. Ambient handled by env (envMapIntensity ~0.6 on materials; also hemisphere? env is enough). Also a subtle up-light? skip. Ground shadow: ShadowMaterial opacity 0.4 on circle radius 4.5 at y=-2.45. Plus a faint radial "pool of light" texture disc at same y (slightly above to avoid z-fight: -2.449 vs -2.45 → use polygonOffset or just 0.002 separation, MeshBasicMaterial with radial gradient canvas, blending additive low alpha, depthWrite false). And a hairline ring (radius 3.6, RingGeometry 3.58–3.6) with basic material color paper alpha 0.22 — museum platform feel. Maybe also faint elliptical "ground fill" color disc under (radial from #141610 to transparent) to suggest a table. Let me build groundPool = canvas radial gradient rgba(226,214,180,0.08) center → 0 at edge, radius 4.6. 34. **Canvas texture functions**: petalTexture (1024×1024): ``` // v axis: geometry v=0 base → v=1 tip. Map canvas y: base at bottom (y=1023) to tip at top? We'll set uv v so texture y flips appropriately. I'll draw with y=0 = tip at top, base at bottom, and in geometry set uv.y = 1 - v (v=0 base → uv.y=1 → canvas bottom)? Canvas → texture: v=1 samples top of canvas (y=0). Set uv.y = 1 - v so base samples canvas bottom. I'll just be careful. ``` Painting: 1. Base vertical gradient: tip (y=0): #f6efe2; mid: #f3ead6; lower: #ecd9a8; base (y=980..1024): #d9b45c → at very base #b98f3e with hint of green #a3a04a. 2. Central flush: soft radial/linear warm blush along the midrib lower half: gradient rgba(214,120,70,0.0→0.35) region center bottom. Actually regale: deep maroon-ish center streaks emanating from base on the inside. Draw with a wedge-shaped maroon glow: create linear gradient along y from base: color #6d2a1e alpha 0.55 at base → 0 by 45% height, drawn as a triangle-ish path (narrow at base widening upward? nectar streaks radiate: several thin strokes from base fanning upward 10-45% length, color #7a2d20, alpha 0.7, width 3-8 px, slightly wavy). Do 5-7 strokes. Also a central stronger band. 3. Speckles: ~180 dots: concentrated region: x in center band (width 45%), y in lower 65%; each: radius 2-7px, color mix of #5e2417/#7a3a22 with alpha 0.5-0.9; irregular: draw 2-3 overlapping circles offset 1-2px. Density falloff toward edges and tip (probabilistic). Real lilies have speckle-free edges — use rejection sampling: p = exp(-(x_norm/0.35)^2) * exp(-(y_from_base_norm...)). I'll implement: for i<200: rx = random center-weighted (gaussian), ry = random^0.8 (denser near base?) Actually speckles denser in middle third of petal length, sparse near base center streaks overlap fine. Keep code moderate. 4. Veins: ~25 thin strokes from base fanning to ~80% length, color rgba(160,120,60,0.18), width 1-2, slight curves (quadratic). Also parallel-ish veins for monocot look (lily petals have parallel veins) — draw slightly wavy lines mostly longitudinal: for k in 1..24: x = k/24 width; path from base to tip? veins converge at base & tip: draw curves from base point spreading. I'll do fan from base. 5. Edge tint: stroke margins (left/right 6% width) with rgba(198,110,110,0.25) blur-ish (draw multiple decreasing-alpha strokes). Tip blush: radial gradient at tip center rgba(210,120,120,0.18). 6. Overall subtle noise: 3000 tiny rects alpha 0.02 random light/dark for organic texture. 7. Slight vignette darkening at very base (attachment shadow): rect gradient bottom 40px rgba(60,40,20,0.35). bump canvas (512×512): fill #808080; veins slightly darker ridges (stroke #8c8c8c alpha... bump: higher = lighter. Speckles slightly raised: draw dots #909090; edges of central channel: gradient band. bumpScale 0.6? three bumpScale is in world-ish units; small values like 0.02? For MeshStandard/Physical, bumpScale ~1 default in r160? bumpScale default 1; effect depends on texture contrast; set 0.35 and eyeball... can't eyeball. Keep bump subtle: bumpScale 0.5 with low-contrast canvas (values around 0.5 gray ±6%). Risk low. stemTexture (256×1024, repeat wrap vertical): base green #566b3c vertical gradient darker at bottom #3f5230; longitudinal streaks: 40 vertical wavy lines alpha 0.06-0.15 darker/lighter; subtle node darkening bands at few y positions; noise. Also use as bump (same canvas as bumpMap grayscale-ish is fine — bump uses luminance? bumpMap uses texel's... it uses the red channel? Bump uses texture2D(bumpMap).x? It samples .x I believe. Green-ish fine since channel ~ mid.) Simpler: separate small grayscale bump canvas: vertical streaks gray. leafTexture (512×1024): green base #4e6b39 with lighter midrib (vertical center band #7f9a5a alpha gradient) and fine parallel veins fanning from base, edge slightly darker, tiny rust speckles near edges? keep clean. antherTexture (256×256): base #9a5a26 gradient to #7a3f16; sulcus: darker line along one edge; random pores: 200 small dark dots alpha 0.15; light dust spots #d8a04e alpha 0.2 (pollen residue). ovaryFaceTexture (512×512): as described. stigma: plain material with slight noise bump? plain. Pollen color #e0a33c roughness 0.85. 35. **Petal geometry code sketch**: ```js function makeBlade(opts){ // opts: length, width, cup(v), thetaStart, thetaEnd, ruffleAmp, ruffleFreq, tipCurl, segU, segV, seed const segU = opts.segU||32, segV = opts.segV||64; // centerline: const pts = [], tang = []; let p = new THREE.Vector3(0,0,0); const thetaAt = v => opts.theta0 + (opts.theta1-opts.theta0)*Math.pow(v, opts.thetaPow||1.35); const ds = opts.length/segV; for(let i=0;i<=segV;i++){ const v = i/segV; pts.push(p.clone()); const th = thetaAt(v); tang.push(new THREE.Vector3(0, Math.cos(th), Math.sin(th))); p = p.clone().add(tang[i].multiplyScalar(ds)); // careful clone math } ``` Wait — pts should include the point after stepping... Let me restructure: for i in 0..segV: v=i/segV; record p BEFORE stepping (so pts[0]=origin). Then step after recording. Good as written (record then step). But I used tang[i] after push — fine. ```js const pos = new Float32Array((segU+1)*(segV+1)*3); const uv = new Float32Array((segU+1)*(segV+1)*2); const idx = []; const rnd = mulberry32(opts.seed||1); const rPhase = rnd()*Math.PI*2; for(let j=0;j<=segV;j++){ const v = j/segV; const t = tang[j]; // in-plane normal (points toward flower axis side): const nrm = new THREE.Vector3(0, Math.sin? ``` For tangent (0,cosθ,sinθ), in-plane normal "up/inward": rotate tangent by -90° in y-z plane: n = (0, sinθ, -cosθ). Check θ=0 (tangent +Y): n=(0,0,-1) — points -Z. Petal curls outward toward +Z... at v=0, petal vertical, its "inner face" faces the flower center. If petal is at azimuth pointing +Z outward from center, the center is at -Z from the petal's base. So inner face normal = -Z initially: matches n=(0,0,-1). ✓. And cup curls edges toward the center (edges fold inward/up) — offset along +n. ```js const n = new THREE.Vector3(0, Math.sin(θj), -Math.cos(θj)); ``` Wait compute θj = thetaAt(v) directly. Width profile: ```js const w = opts.baseW + (opts.width - opts.baseW) * Math.pow(Math.sin(Math.PI * Math.pow(v, 0.92)), opts.widthPow||0.9) * Math.pow(1-v, 0.15); ``` Hmm: at v=0: sin(0)=0 → w=baseW ✓. At v=1: sin(π)=0 → baseW ✗ (tip should → 0). Need tip→0. Multiply by (1-v)^p won't zero baseW... Instead: w(v) = baseW*(1-smoothstep(0.7,1,v)) * sin(π v^0.92)^widthPow * ... let me define: w(v) = sin(π * v^0.9)^0.85 gives 0 at both ends, peak ~ at v≈0.52 ≈ 1. Scale: w = opts.width * that, but base needs ~0.14: add claw: baseAdd = opts.baseW * (1-v)^3 * ... hmm at v=0 baseAdd=baseW, and sin=0 so total = baseW ✓; tip: baseAdd→0, sin→0 ✓. Peak at v≈0.5: sin(π*0.53)≈1 → w≈width ✓. ```js const w = opts.width * Math.pow(Math.sin(Math.PI*Math.pow(v,0.9)),0.85) + opts.baseW * Math.pow(1-v,3); ``` v=0 → width*0 + baseW = baseW ✓. For each u in -1..1: ```js for(let i=0;i<=segU;i++){ const u = i/segU*2-1; const cup = (opts.cup0*(1-v) + opts.cup1) * u*u * opts.width? ``` Cup as fraction of width: cupOffset = cupFactor * (u^2) where cupFactor = opts.cup * (width*0.5)?? Simpler: cupFactor(v) = opts.cup * (0.25 + 0.75*(1-v)) → stronger near base. offset along n: cupF * u². Also longitudinal gutter: pull center slightly along n too: + opts.gutter * (1-u²)*v?? skip; cup does it. Ruffle: ```js const edge = Math.pow(Math.abs(u), 2.2); const ruf = Math.sin(u*opts.ruffleFreq + rPhase + v*3.0) * opts.ruffleAmp * edge * Math.pow(v, 1.1); ``` Apply ruffle along n and slightly along t: p_final = center + side*(u*w) + n*(cup*u² + ruf) + t*(ruf*0.35). Also asymmetric wobble: add low-freq per-petal warp: warp = sin(v*4 + rPhase)*0.02*u along n. ok. pos = pts[j] + X*(u*w) + n*(cup*u² + ruf + warp) + t*(ruf*0.3). X axis side vector: (1,0,0) local — the width direction. ✓ (azimuth rotation orients it tangentially ✓). UV: uv = (u*0.5+0.5, 1-v)? Let me decide base at uv.y=1 so canvas bottom = base. I'll draw the canvas with "base" at bottom. Then uv.y = 1 - v gives v=0(base) → uv 1 = canvas bottom ✓ (texture v=1 is bottom of image? Texture coordinate v=0 samples the BOTTOM row of the image in WebGL (after standard flipY=true, v=0 = bottom of image). Ugh: with flipY (three sets texture.flipY=true by default for CanvasTexture? CanvasTexture flipY default true), v=0 corresponds to bottom of canvas drawing. So base (v=0, uv.y=1) samples canvas TOP if flipY... let me think clearly: three.js flipY=true flips the image so that uv (0,0) = bottom-left of the image as drawn. So uv.y=1 → top of canvas drawing. If I want base of petal at bottom of drawn canvas: base should have uv.y=0 → set uv.y = v. ✓ Simpler: uv.y = v, draw base at bottom of canvas. Indices standard grid. computeVertexNormals. For leaves reuse makeBlade with narrow width, green texture, stronger droop (theta1 larger e.g. 1.9), cup small. 36. **Stamen construction**: ```js const az = i*π/3 + 0.32? offset from tepals by 30°: tepals at k*60°, stamens at k*60+30°. base point: (sin a *0.14, 0.10, cos a *0.14). curve pts (in local group with rotation.y=a): p0=(0,0,0) local... define stamen local: origin at attach, +Z outward radial, +Y up. pts: (0,0,0), (0.02,0.5,0.10), (0.05,0.95,0.32), (0.10,1.25,0.62), (0.13,1.38,0.92) → tip leaning out. In world: azGroup rotation.y = a, so local +Z = outward ✓. filament: TubeGeometry(CatmullRomCurve3(pts), 32, 0.024, 8) — but tube spans whole curve including into anther region; anther covers tip. Use pts minus last bit for filament, then anther at tip with its own orientation. I'll make filament curve end at (0.12, 1.30, 0.86) and anther positioned at (0.13,1.36,0.95), rotated: anther hangs pointing outward-down: rotate anther local: its long axis along X after CapsuleGeometry? CapsuleGeometry axis = Y. Set antherGroup.rotation to align: tilt from vertical by ~100° (pointing outward-down past horizontal? Lily anthers point outward/upward-ish parallel to tepals: actually anthers nod outward ~45° from vertical? Real stargazer: anthers prominent, roughly horizontal, pollen faces forward/outward). Tilt: rotation.x = -(90°+? In local frame with +Z outward: tilt anther's long axis to point outward and slightly down: rotation.x = 70°? rotating +Y toward +Z by 70° gives axis mostly outward slightly up. Then add roll rotation.y small for organic variety, plus swing: anther attached dorsifixed — fine. ``` Anther shape: CapsuleGeometry(0.045, 0.26, 6, 12) scaled (0.7?, 1, 1) → capsule axis Y length total 0.26+0.09=0.35, radius 0.045, then scale.x 0.8 (flatten) — but scaling after rotation within group: put scale on mesh: mesh.scale.set(0.8,1,1)?? The capsule's cross-section: x and z both 0.045 radius; scale z 0.6 to flatten thickness (z local after tilts = ?). Whatever orientation results, flattening one axis is fine visually. Also add sulcus: can't easily; texture with a dark seam line along the length; capsule UV wraps around: seam at some u. Draw texture with a lengthwise dark stripe at u≈0.5 → lands along one side = sulcus ✓ (capsule UV: u around circumference). Pollen on anther: InstancedMesh sphere r 0.008, count ~70: random points on the anther surface: sample capsule param: y in [-(len/2+r*0.5), +(...)] along axis, angle around: pos = (cosφ*rr, yy, sinφ*rr) with rr = r*1.02*scale factors; skip region near seam? whatever. Also a few pollen grains scattered... skip scattered. Also filament texture color pale greenish cream #e6e3c0? filaments of regale are pale green-white... In many lilies filaments are greenish-yellow; fine: #d9d7a8, roughness 0.6. 37. **Pistil**: ```js ovaryProfile: points for lathe (x=r, y): y 0→1.05: r(y): 0.16 at y=0 → 0.27 at y=0.35 → 0.30 y=0.6 → 0.24 y=0.9 → 0.14 y=1.05 (top, narrows to meet style) Use a smooth function or sampled spline via CatmullRom on 2D pts then LatheGeometry(points, 48). style: cylinder r 0.05, from y=1.0 to 2.05, slight lean: rotate small. stigma: at y≈2.1: sphere r 0.09 scaled (1,0.8,1), with 3 subtle lobes? just sphere + slight noise displacement (iterate position attribute, add small radial noise). glossy: roughness 0.18, sheen? color #b7c26a with lighter tip #cdd97e. ``` Section swap: fullOvary = lathe; section group = half lathe + face + ovules. Both children of pistil group; ovary unit picking: raycast targets both; visibility toggles both. 38. **Explode choreography** (per part): - tepal i: window [0.04+i*0.05, +0.45], dist radial 2.3 + i*0.05 jitter, yOff -0.35, spin around own long axis 25°, extra peel from φopen to φopen+40°. - stamen i: window [0.18+i*0.05, 0.62], dist 2.6, yOff -0.05. - pistil (style+stigma+ovary): window [0.35, 0.8], dir (0, 1, 0) dist 1.3 → pistil rises above. - receptacle: [0.5, 0.9] down -1.0? Receptacle and stem stay as anchor: stem stays, receptacle stays (they anchor the composition). Or slight drop of stem? Keep stem+receptacle static (the "specimen mount"). Actually pushing pistil up while stem stays creates a gap showing separation ✓. - leaves: [0.55, 0.95], outward dist 1.6 from their azimuth, yOff -0.2. At slider=1: corolla ring scattered around, stamens beyond them, pistil floating above center, ovary sectioned (toggle separately) — a beautiful exploded anatomical diagram. Labels then really shine. The slider should also tween smoothly: keep `dissect` state variable, tween toward target each frame with lerp factor 0.08 (smooth). The slider input sets target. ✓ Also stage buttons? I'll add four small "stage" presets above slider? Keep: slider + toggles is clean. Maybe quick preset chips: "intact / exploded / sectioned". I'll add two: a "Section" toggle button and slider; plus Reset. Fine. 39. **Index list ↔ parts mapping**: parts registry entries (id, name, latin, numeral, desc, unitGroups[], labelAnchor fn, kind: 'whorl'|'single', hideable): ``` tepal-outer (3 units), tepal-inner (3), filament (6 units are filament+anther separate? stamen unit = {filament mesh, anther mesh, pollen mesh}; rows filament & anther & pollen reference the same 6 stamens' sub-meshes. Hiding "filament" hides filaments but leaves anthers floating — weird. Real dissection: you'd remove whole stamen. So rows: "Stamen — Stamen (filament + anther)"? More anatomical to list both separately but hide together. Compromise: rows: III Filament, IV Anther — clicking eye on either toggles the whole stamen? Confusing. Let me define units = organs: 6 tepals-outer? No: units: Tepal×6 (each tagged outer/inner), Stamen×6 (contains filament, anther, pollen), Pistil (style, stigma, ovary(+section)), Receptacle, Stem, Leaf×3. Index rows (whorl-level): I Outer tepal whorl, II Inner tepal whorl, III Filament, IV Anther, V Pollen, VI Ovary, VII Ovule(section), VIII Style, IX Stigma, X Receptacle, XI Pedicel, XII Leaf. Hmm rows III/IV/V all point to stamens; row eye hides all 6 stamens (from any of the three rows? each row has own eye → row-specific visibility for the sub-part). Simpler UX: eye on Filament row hides whole stamens; but then Anther row eye also hides whole... redundant. Cleaner: make eyes per-row control the *sub-part only*: filament meshes hidden, leaving anthers hovering with pollen — anatomically odd but visually it's actually informative ("dissecting" filament from anther)? Floating anthers look wrong. Final decision: rows = organs with consistent hide semantics: I. Tepal (outer whorl) — eye hides 3 outer tepals II. Tepal (inner whorl) III. Stamen — Stamen (filament + anther) — desc covers both; label anchors: filament label → filament mid; anther label → anther. Hmm but then I lose the nice per-part rows for anther/filament/pollen labels... labels (leader lines) can be independent of rows! Label set: Tepal, Filament, Anther, Pollen, Stigma, Style, Ovary, Ovule(cond), Receptacle, Pedicel, Leaf — 10-11 tags. Index rows can be fewer (organ-level). Labels & rows both derive from the same `ANATOMY` data: rows = organs (8 rows: tepal-outer, tepal-inner, stamen, pistil(style/stigma/ovary as one? no...). Ugh, let me just settle definitively: **Index rows (10):** 1. I — Tepal (outer) · Tepalum — eye: hide/show 3 outer tepals 2. II — Tepal (inner) · Tepalum — 3 inner 3. III — Stamen · Stamen (filamentum & anthera) — 6 stamens (filament+anther+pollen) 4. IV — Pollen · Pollen — eye toggles pollen instanced meshes only (nice! pollen dust on/off) ✓ meaningful 5. V — Style · Stilus 6. VI — Stigma · Stigma 7. VII — Ovary · Ovarium — eye toggles ovary+ (auto-enables section view? no: ovary eye hides ovary revealing... style floats. acceptable: it's dissection!) 8. VIII — Ovule · Ovulum — eye auto-enables Section mode (half ovary + ovules). When section off, row shows dimmed with note "section to view". ✓ elegant. 9. IX — Receptacle · Receptaculum 10. X — Pedicel · Pedicellus 11. XI — Leaf · Folium (3 leaves) **Leader labels (sub-part precision):** Tepal, Filament, Anther, Pollen, Style, Stigma, Ovary (+Ovule when sectioned), Receptacle, Pedicel, Leaf. Each label tied to a sub-anchor, independent of rows. Clicking in 3D selects the *organ* → info card shows organ info + related latin terms. Info card for stamen covers filament/anther/pollen text together. For pistil clicks: which sub-mesh clicked → card for that sub-part (style/stigma/ovary have separate rows in ANATOMY_INFO anyway). So: units for picking = each mesh tagged with partKey; partKey → info entry among: tepal-outer, tepal-inner, stamen, pollen, style, stigma, ovary, ovule, receptacle, pedicel, leaf. ✓ That's exactly 11 info entries; rows also 11. So unify: PARTS = array of 11 entries; each has: numeral, name, latin, desc, meshes (aggregate across organs: e.g., 'stamen' part owns 6 filament+6 anther meshes; 'pollen' owns 6 instanced meshes; 'ovule' owns ovule group + section logic; style owns 1 mesh; etc.), labelAnchor (Vector3 in a group, or function computing world pos), labelVisible conditions. Click raycast → find mesh → part id → select. Hover same. Eye toggles part's meshes visible. Isolate: hide all others. ✓ Clean and consistent. Rows==parts==click targets==info cards. Labels==parts (each part has a label; tepal label anchored to one representative tepal — outer tepal #0; or better: label anchor follows the front-most tepal? static rep fine). For picking, raycasting against InstancedMesh works (gives instanceId) — pollen instanced meshes: part 'pollen' — tiny targets, fine. 40. **Pluck (double-click)**: dblclick → organ plucked: organ = the individual tepal/stamen/leaf (single mesh group). Animate: over 0.9s: move along (radial + down) 1.5-2.5 units with tumble, then visible=false. Plucked organs tracked in a list; "Reset" restores. For sub-parts style/stigma/ovary: plucking them is weird together (they're one pistil) — allow: dbl-click plucks the pistil as a whole? Or ignore pluck for pistil/receptacle/stem (core). I'll enable pluck for tepals, stamens, leaves only; other parts ignore with maybe subtle shake? Just ignore. Hmm, dblclick on organ also selects (two clicks)? Manage: on click select; on dblclick pluck (selection cleared). Fine. Pluck animation with our tween list. Tumble: rotate mesh around random axis — mesh nested in azGroup; animate an extra wrapper "pluckGroup"? Structure: azGroup → peelGroup → mesh. Pluck: animate peelGroup position/rotation additional offsets (store base, add offset). On restore, reset. ✓ 41. **Materials per unit for highlight**: petals: 6 clones of petal material (uniform texture shared). Highlight: lerp emissive intensity per part... but hover selects by *organ* (single tepal) while rows highlight whole part (3 tepals). Implement highlight at organ granularity; row hover sets target highlight on all organs of part. Selected state stronger tint + label emphasis. Manage `organ.userData.hl` current/target; per frame: hl += (target-hl)*0.15; apply material.emissive.setScalar? emissive color: warm gold 0xc8a24a * hl*0.35 for petals (light material → tint visible), for green parts use #d8b25a. Use emissive.copy(accent).multiplyScalar(hl*0.3). Also petals: emissive shows both sides fine. ✓ 42. Now, **info panel** details (bottom-left card): numeral, name (serif 20px), latin italic gold, description (13px, 1.5 line height), small buttons: [Isolate] [Remove] [Close]. Remove = hide organ(s) of that part (all organs: hides whole part; row eye syncs). Isolate = hide all other parts (leaves selected only) — plus a "Show all" appears in control bar when anything hidden (or Reset covers it). 43. **The overall page composition**: ```
