**Developing Game Mechanics** I'm currently focusing on the core gameplay loop for the HTML game. My thought process is centering on how to make it engaging and immediately playable within a single HTML file, ensuring all necessary logic and styling are embedded. **Refining Player Control** My focus has shifted to player input. I'm leaning towards a smooth, mouse-driven movement system for "Neon Survivor" as it offers the most intuitive and accessible feel for quick, reactive gameplay. **Implementing Core Mechanics** I'm prioritizing the player's movement and shooting. The goal is an intuitive system where the player follows the mouse and automatically fires at the closest enemy, aiming for a blend of Vampire Survivors and Geometry Wars. **Designing Game Elements** My thoughts are now on enemy spawning from the edges and collecting XP gems dropped by defeated foes. This directly ties into leveling up and presenting players with upgrade choices for an engaging progression loop. **Optimizing Rendering** I'm focusing on performance, particularly the rendering. I've decided to opt for 'lighter' globalCompositeOperation over excessive shadowBlur for a superior neon glow effect with better frame rates. I'm also exploring dual control schemes, allowing both WASD and mouse-driven movement. **Choosing Controls** I'm solidifying the control scheme, prioritizing both mouse and WASD/arrow key input. My current thinking is to use keys when pressed, otherwise defaulting to mouse input for movement, ensuring flexibility. **Defining Enemy Types** My focus is now on defining distinct enemy archetypes, from basic fodder to more challenging elites, each with unique speed and HP. I'm also detailing XP gem behavior and considering visual polish like screen shake and floating text, along with synthesizing core sound effects using the Web Audio API. ```html Neon Survivor
