Prompt

Consider the following situation and give a genuinely independent, practical assessment of it. Someone is considering moving to Germany, primarily because the main objective is to maximize earning potential and eventually earn as much money as possible. Germany seems attractive because there are public universities with very low or no tuition fees, the economy is relatively stable, and the euro is much stronger than the Pakistani rupee. The long-term idea is that earning in euros while potentially spending or investing part of that income in Pakistan could create a strong financial advantage. The most common and seemingly easiest pathway is to go as an international student. The person is therefore trying to follow that route: take IELTS, apply to universities, secure admission, wait for an embassy appointment, obtain the visa, travel to Germany, and begin a new phase of life there. However, the current situation is where the real difficulty starts. The person has not taken IELTS yet and is considering taking the test after roughly another week. For the past 1.5 months, there has been a strong effort to improve the IELTS Writing score, but the improvement has not happened as expected. Repeatedly reviewing and correcting writing has become exhausting, and after doing it again and again, it has become difficult even to focus properly or notice mistakes anymore because the process itself has become mentally draining. As a result, IELTS preparation has temporarily been reduced, with the intention of returning to it more seriously a few days before the actual test. The bigger problem, however, is not IELTS itself. It is surviving financially until the Germany pathway becomes possible. Even after getting admission, there may be an 8–12 month period, or perhaps 8–9 months or more, before the person can actually get to Germany because of the visa and embassy appointment process. During this period, a substantial amount of money will also be required for the blocked account and other expenses. At the moment, that money does not already exist. The person estimates needing to earn roughly 20–30 lakh PKR in order to cover the required funds and related costs before reaching the visa stage. So the immediate question is: What should this person actually do for the period after IELTS, when IELTS preparation will take less time, but Germany may still be many months away? The goal is not simply to stay busy. The goal is to build a realistic income source and accumulate enough money to make the Germany plan financially possible. Some possibilities have already been considered: The person previously used Fiverr but is no longer very hopeful about it. Upwork has generated only around $200 so far. It could potentially become a source of income, but it requires spending money on proposals and consistently applying for jobs, and there is uncertainty about whether it can become reliable enough. Another possibility is directly contacting startups, particularly startups in Europe, and trying to get freelance work, trial work, contract work, or eventually a proper job. The idea is to approach companies directly rather than relying heavily on marketplaces, because building a direct relationship could potentially lead to longer-term work and more stable income. There is also a self-built product: a chatbot designed for businesses that can engage website visitors, answer their questions, and potentially capture or book leads. The person could try to sell this product directly through cold emails, outreach, pitching, Loom demos, LinkedIn, or other channels. However, there is uncertainty about which approach to choose, how to structure the offer, who to target, how to reach them, and where to begin. The person is also clear that they do not want to rely on a conventional local job in Pakistan because they believe the available opportunities often involve exploitation and do not provide sufficient income for the financial target they need to reach. At this point, the main request is not simply to evaluate the options already listed. Based on broad knowledge and experience with careers, freelancing, startups, software engineering, remote work, international hiring, and Germany-related career paths, identify anything important that this person may be missing. There may be a completely different strategy that has not been considered. There may be a better way to structure the current skills and experience. There may be a better market, type of client, service, employment model, country, industry, or outreach method that could materially improve the chances of earning enough money during the waiting period. The person is not planning to sit around and wait. Learning German will continue actively in parallel. But earning money is equally important because the financial requirement for the Germany move has to be reached. One additional preference is that the person is skeptical of platforms such as Wellfound and Turing. The feeling is that hiring through such platforms can be difficult, impersonal, or unreliable. The preference is to identify companies directly, contact them, demonstrate real ability, build trust, and ideally establish a long-term working relationship that could provide consistent income. There is also a lack of familiarity with the idea of targeting Gulf-region startups or companies. It is not currently a particularly attractive option to the person, but if there is genuinely a strong case for it, that possibility should still be examined. Another important question is personal positioning. What should someone in this situation post on LinkedIn and X to demonstrate real ability and attract opportunities? How should they communicate their skills and projects without sounding fake, overly polished, or like everyone else? What should they actually specialize in or focus on if the goal is to obtain well-paid software work? What kind of work, technical niche, service, or combination of skills would give someone with a computer science background and some real project/client experience a realistic chance of winning good-paying opportunities? And what would the path actually look like from the current situation to obtaining those opportunities? There is one major concern with the usual online advice about personal branding. A lot of advice says things like: β€œI reduced this process from 4 hours to 2 hours.” β€œI automated X and saved Y%.” β€œI built this AI system that transformed a business.” But much of this content feels generic, repetitive, and obviously optimized for social media rather than being genuinely useful. It seems like many people are producing the same kind of AI-generated success-story posts, and that makes the whole thing feel fake. In reality, building a real working software system can take a lot of time, debugging, iteration, research, deployment, testing, and problem-solving. The actual process is much messier than a polished LinkedIn post makes it look. So how could someone approach this in a way that is genuinely authentic and useful? How could they demonstrate real engineering ability, real systems they have built, real problems they have solved, and real thinking, without pretending that everything took two hours or that every project produced a dramatic business transformation? Most importantly, given the entire situation above, what would be a realistic strategy for the next several months to maximize the chances of generating enough income to fund the Germany plan? The answer should go beyond generic advice such as β€œnetwork more,” β€œbuild your personal brand,” β€œapply to jobs,” or β€œlearn AI.” It should identify concrete opportunities, trade-offs, priorities, and practical approaches that this person may not have considered. The goal is clarity: what should actually be done, what should probably be ignored, and what could realistically give this person the best chance of reaching the required financial target while simultaneously moving toward a long-term software career in Germany?
