Prompt

Rate and evaluate is this case trajectory satisfactory for own AND any job, especially since return from 5 month absence is nearly breaking down after 3 months back in job. With 10 of 12 days off spent recovering during a vacation set. and nearly the whole of every 4 days off during working sets. Trajectory always leads to burnout and loss of executive function and sensory exhaustion. Case Assessment: Strengths, Challenges and WhattoWatch An honest look at where an EDB claim would stand, and what would move it either way. The aim is to find the true path, not to win an argument. Evidence that supports a claim Medical foundation Formal autism diagnosis (2024) with gold-standard tools, co-signed by a doctoral psychologist, with valid effort confirmed. Substantial-support needs for rigidity and routines; low adaptive functioning, with self-direction rated extremely low and work skills low by Dee-Dee. A large gap between intellect and everyday functioning. Disability Tax Credit approved for 1986 to 2030: a psychologist-certified marked restriction, all or substantially all of the time, lifelong and not expected to improve. Adapting to change rated severe. 2026 NP forms name autism burnout as the cause, rated severe at onset, with moderate to severe cognitive limits at the peak (multitasking severe) and three months of "not competent to manage own affairs." History and pattern Recurring absences over seven years (2019, 2020 to 2021, 2024 to 2025, 2026), with long absences running far past their first estimates. Two straight-day positions (2017, 2022 to 2023) were harder, not easier, and preceded decline. These are the kinds of jobs a vocational review would likely propose. Accommodation already tried: a private office in 2022 to 2023, and graduated returns in 2021 and 2026. Lifelong roots: school absences from exhaustion, and tax credit eligibility back to age five. Treatment and credibility Therapy since 2013; current biweekly CBT since November 2024; monthly NP care; medication trials. Case Assessment Page 1 of 4 Treatment compliance recorded on every form. Honest record-keeping, including correcting memories that the records didn't support. The employer's medical department and Telus Health have known the diagnosis since 2024. Current functioning Since August 2026: four cycles at or beyond limit; 10 of 12 break days spent recovering; first-day-off crashes. Household management depends mainly on Dee-Dee, with external systems holding the rest together. A safety-critical job, which strengthens the own-occupation stage. Legal framework Total disability doesn't mean total helplessness; Ontario courts look at whether work can be done regularly and sustainably. The any-occupation test only counts jobs paying at least 65% of final average earnings. Challenges to a successful claim The July 2026 forms record complete recovery and a return with no restrictions after two short shifts. On paper, the last episode ended well. Every form expected full recovery. Nothing yet documents a condition that doesn't resolve. Earlier absences can be framed as situational: anxiety and depression during a family health crisis (2019 to 2021), and anxiety about a new diagnosis (2024). Strong capacity evidence: 16+ years employed, high performance, covering senior shift coordinator, high verbal IQ. A vocational review will use these. The DTC rated basic concentration and memory as not limited. The claim must rest on endurance, not basic ability. Treatment may be argued as not yet maximized. No psychiatrist has been involved, ADHD isn't formally diagnosed, and medication is still being adjusted. Self-paced or remote work is the strongest alternative an insurer could raise. Masking makes Rob look well in any single assessment. Work incidents sit in employer records as performance matters. Case Assessment Page 2 of 4 Caregiving strain from Dee-Dee's health could be framed as the cause, rather than Rob's own limits. Frequent short absences could be read as absence management rather than impairment. Whatto monitor Either direction is useful information. If things improve and stay improved, that is a good outcome in itself. Gaps to close December 7: ADHD assessment referral, executive-function testing, and a repeat of the 2024 adaptive-functioning test. Signal Strengthens the case if Weakens the case if Recovery on long breaks Days until functional stay high or grow Recovery gets faster Cycle ratings Decline, or stay low despite treatment Stable or improving Quarterly baseline and repeat testing Lower than the 2024 baseline Same or higher Treatment response Partial despite optimized treatment Durable improvement Returns to work Relapse within weeks or months Sustained 6 to 12 months without growing depletion Life outside work Keeps shrinking Hobbies, household and social life return Accommodated day trial, if tried Fails despite real supports Works Clinician notes Describe limits and doubts about sustainability Describe stable good functioning Case Assessment Page 3 of 4 Consider a psychiatry referral, both to optimize treatment and to add a specialist opinion. Make sure the clinic chart reflects prior absences, therapy history and the Biphentin restart. Therapist notes on function, recovery and sustainability over time. Keep copies of appraisals and all disability correspondence. Lawyer consult on the plan wording, the qualifying period, earnings changes and timing. Keep the tracker going honestly, including good days. Bottom line The foundation is real and well documented, and the own-occupation stage looks reasonable if a long absence happens. The any-occupation stage would be genuinely contested and would depend on what happens next: whether returns hold, whether treatment is optimized, and whether the cost of work keeps showing up in the record. Honest tracking answers that question either way. Case Assessment Page 4 of 4
